Tales told by an idiot.  Worm

FIVE GERMAN GEEKS are now helping police with their inquiries into the Netsky virus ring.

Since the arrest, police have raided the homes of five youths who are believed to be in the Netsky ring. Their computers have been taken away for questioning too.

According to a media release by the anti-virus company Sophos, two of the five were singing like canaries and had given police a copy of the Netsky source code.  Birds Of A Feather

Another one had admitted helping to circulate worms. It is not clear if those three have been arrested and charged yet.

Last weekend the German cops arrested 18-year-old Sven Jaschan, after his mates grassed on him for $25,000 from Vole's Redmond fund for bounty hunters.

Jaschan later admitted to police that he was the author of Sasser and the Netsky-A worm.

Police in Germany have questioned another five people in connection with the creation and release of the Sasser and Netsky worms, according to a media release from anti-virus company Sophos.

Last weekend 18-year-old Sven Jaschan was arrested in Waffensen, North Germany, for allegedly writing and distributing the Sasser internet worm which disrupted home computer and corporate systems, including Westpac Bank.

Jaschan later admitted to police that he was the author of Sasser and the Netsky-A worm, says the release.

German police executed additional searches on Tuesday and have questioned five more people. Two admitted Jaschan had given them the source code for Netsky and one admitted to helping circulate the worm. No further arrests have been made.

Wonderful news. My laptop was infected the day before this became a news story. In the past 2 weeks I've spent over 40 hours on the telephone with Tech Support attmpting to render my computer useable again, and nashing my teeth every time a news report described Sasser as an 'annoying but not destructive' virus. Eventually I had to reformat my hard drive and spend hours downloading 48 Windows patches on a 26k dial up connection.

I've been told now to watch for nasty after effects of the virus.

I'm so sorry you've had problems. How frustrating.

Thanks. I subscribe to Norton's live update, & keep my windows updated, too, but this one got in before Norton or MS had any protection.
