Heat signatures and some wisps of smoke from wildfires burning in Korean Peninsula are seen in the photo created by American commercial satellite, GFMC. While two forest fires and a normal fire have broken out in South Korea, it appears about 130 fires -- possibly forest fires -- are visible in the North.

Wonder if this a normal yearly occurance, as in the western US or Australia.

Good quality picture.

The discrepancy in the photo between N & S Korea & the area to the north west of NK, makes it look like it's not natural unless the other areas are in the habit of putting out forest fires while NK allows them to burn & the number would indicate severe weather conditions that we would be aware of.

I don't think they habitually clear forest & brush lands for cultivation like is done in the Yucatan. The food crisis is quite severe; maybe it's a new initiative.

Getting very cloak & dagger, they could be attempting to hide something under the cover of the smoke as Saddam did last year.

Can't really think of any other explanations.
