"...and this country is really in the mood for somebody to tell ’em what they should think, what to do.”

That's exactly what democrats want--to tell the American people what we should think and what we should do. Unbelievable, he just gave away their secret! I'm glad I can think for myself, thank you.

And how about the celebrity turnout for the premiere? Not a real shocker to see Martin Sheen, Demi Moore, Drew Barrymoore, et al excited to be there. And how about Camryn Manheim who was also there, quoted, "A lot of us look to Michael Moore to uncover the real truth." ROFL.

*sigh* These people...

Facing the truth may be uncomfortable, but it's something you must do. Hiding behind party lines and slandering this documentary as purely political only deepens your misguidance. If Michael Moore had nothing relevant to say in this documentary, it wouldn't be causing such a stir. So what exactly is Bush afraid of? What are you afraid of? No one is telling you what to think or what to do my dear. By trying to ban the release of this movie, Disney and Bush are tyring to tell you that you are not allowd to see this film. All Moore is doing is simply putting his documentary out there. No one is being forced to see it. It is a completely voluntary choice. If people choose to see it, then so be it. If people choose to realize the truth in this film, then so be it. In the same way that Bush told lies to America over and over again, Moore can now spread the truth through mass media. President Bush slapped the American public in the face by sending our men and women to die in an unjust war. The patriot act has forced us to take this abuse lying down. Well guess what? America is going to fight back. See you at the polls.

This post is as partisan as the one you are replying to.

Moore is driven by his hatred of Bush and conservatism. He'll lie to achieve his goals and get more attention. I haven't seen the movie, no intention to, but his track record predicts the film will be as truthful as political ads on TV.

http://www.moorelies.com/articles/archives/

http://www.blackfive.net/main/2004/05/michael_moore_l.html

"Less than 24 hours after accusing the Walt Disney Company of pulling the plug on his latest documentary in a blatant attempt at political censorship, the rabble-rousing film-maker Michael Moore has admitted he knew a year ago that Disney had no intention of distributing it.

The admission, during an interview with CNN, undermined Moore's claim that Disney was trying to sabotage the US release of Fahrenheit 911 just days before its world premiere at the Cannes film festival.

Instead, it lent credence to a growing suspicion that Moore was manufacturing a controversy to help publicise the film, a full-bore attack on the Bush administration and its handling of national security since the attacks of 11 September 2001."

No Mark, I beg your pardon. I'm speaking of Michael Moore's work as a whole -which I don't think is garbage at all. Moore has done his research which no doubt is driven by his opinion politically. Did you check his sources? Are you sure that he's not right? Perhaps the facts he presents are not "in-your-face" but to those who live in a world consumed by fox news, I'm sure it's contradictory to everything they know. I've noticed that you keep bringing up Bowling for Columbine, which I felt was very powerful probably because it expresses my own feeling on guns which is driven by my respect for human life and the quality of it - for everyone.

That "different brand bag" is one that people aren't used to because the 'republican noise machine' has succeed in it's mission to drown out anything they don't agree with. I'm not pulling it out of my a$$. The Republican Noise Machine is a book written by David Brock who is a long time conservative. You can read an excerpt of it here:

I'm sure you may disagree with this but, why would this man lie about this? He's not being bought out by special interest groups because they only like dirty politicians. Perhaps it's like when the Grinch finally feels love! Oh, hey -- I heard Limbaugh's getting a divorce. Is this true?! What a hypocrite, first the drugs and now this... tsk, tsk a man who can't live by his own standards but condemns the world for their involuntary needs or mistakes. What about forgiveness? If his listeners are truly loyal to his sermons he should be fired. As far as I'm concerned this man is lacking a soul already so forgiveness is a moot point.

Note: The link that I posted above is at http://www.salon.com -Which is a pretty good news source. This site usually needs to be subscribed to but, you can get a day pass (everyday!) - which is really simple, it will offer you one and you watch a small ad for free access all day to their site. Just thought I'd let people know in case you want to check out the article and it asks you to get a pass...

"I've noticed that you keep bringing up Bowling for Columbine, which I felt was very powerful probably because it expresses my own feeling on guns which is driven by my respect for human life and the quality of it - for everyone."

Well not quality for everyone. It sounds as though you support gun control, though I don't know to what extent. My guns have never hurt anyone, never will. Now I may use my gun, or bat, or fork, or rolled magazine to harm someone who attempts to harm my family, that is a different story. Restricting my gun ownership restricts the quality of my life.

"I heard Limbaugh's getting a divorce. Is this true?! What a hypocrite"

Do you know the reason? He mentioned it very briefly on his show yesterday. The Divorce was at his request and it sounded like there was some hurtful reason for ending it, perhaps infidelity. You are making a rash judgement.

"http://www.salon.com -Which is a pretty good news source"

And very, very liberal.

Might I point you to www.worldnetdaily.com, instead?

About as balanced as salon for sure.

Well, speaking of his work as a whole, the behavior I've noted is there in "Roger and Me", "Bowling for Columbine", and has been reported to be (I haven't read them) in his books as well.

"Did you check his sources? Are you sure that he's not right?"

Yes, and yes, as I've at various times in various threads demonstrated on this and other boards. I've pointed out lies on his part, fabrications, deliberately removing quotes out of any pertinent context, and creative editing to misrepresent statements others have said. It's all there, just a matter of being aware of them and not taking his Moore at face value. He's got a self-admitted agenda, and factuallity isn't a factor in it.

As for my bringing up of BfC, that's because I'm relatively knowledgeable in the area's he addresses in it, and those fallacies he engaged in in it were pretty obvious.

"Perhaps the facts he presents are not "in-your-face" but to those who live in a world consumed by fox news, I'm sure it's contradictory to everything they know."

Assumption on your part, as I don't listen to or watch Fox News. The news outlet I pay the most attention to is in fact NPR though I tend to do my own research on things rather than buying any news outlets take on things.

Jim-- you seem like you can be a funny guy... I appreciate you not ripping me to shreds for having an opinion - thanks for that.

I'll accept your suggestion with the news link. I'll add it to the list of news sources I check out regularly. Multiple sources help weed out crap.

I wish that I could have compassion for Rush but in no way has he ever been compassionate for any situation that I've been in. Maybe I did make a rash judgement but than that's what his career is based on, so I'm reciprocating.

As far as guns go... I come from a family of hunters and I'm sure that my own father may have even said your exact words. Does everyone who has a gun mishandle the responsibilities that come with it? No. But, the fact remains that there is an awful lot of violence in this country and we do not need easy access to weapons of that calibur. I'm not sure yet just how strongly I feel on this issue but I do believe that we need to have some tougher restrictions.

Mark~ NPR is good.

What about Coulter's books, hmmm? Did you check her sources too?

I'm calling it a day. Thanks everyone for the debate.
