"...and this country is really in the mood for somebody to tell ’em what they should think, what to do.”

That's exactly what democrats want--to tell the American people what we should think and what we should do. Unbelievable, he just gave away their secret! I'm glad I can think for myself, thank you.

And how about the celebrity turnout for the premiere? Not a real shocker to see Martin Sheen, Demi Moore, Drew Barrymoore, et al excited to be there. And how about Camryn Manheim who was also there, quoted, "A lot of us look to Michael Moore to uncover the real truth." ROFL.

*sigh* These people...

Maybe the original post wasn't about Bush, but Moore's work is often anti-Bush, and the film in question has a lot to do with him and his administration.

My point is that you don't KNOW whether or not what he says is true...don't you think it's worth it to give it some thought? What he has to offer is different from what most of the media has to say about Bush, the war, 9/11 - he's offering something different than "We must support our president b/c if we don't the terrorists have already won", which is the safe thing to say. He's offering a different, oftentimes scary picture of the state we're in. He's not telling anyone what to think - he's telling them that it is worth it to perhaps be a little skeptical of this administration.

Because Moore's film has to do with Bush. And I just can't help but see the parallels b/tw some people's arguments about Moore making up facts to get people to agree with him, and my own belief that Bush has done just that.

<>

I said that Moore is waking the country up to what is really going on b/c that's what I think his films do. I said I hope he is wrong b/c I think it would be great if we didn't actually have a president who has lied to us repeatedly. How is this unclear? And of course I don't KNOW that Moore KNOWS what is going on, but a lot of what he has said about the war and other issues pertaining to Bush make a whole lot more sense to me than what Bush and many of his supporters have to say.

<>

I never said Bush was uneducated. I know he went to Yale...doesn't mean a whole lot to me considering he had a very powerful legacy. Plus, there are a lot of people in this world who are 'school smart' but appear to have absolutely no common sense when it comes to the real world. He has made tons of bad decisions regarding our country in the past 3.5 years, and that says a lot more to me about his capabilities as a world leader, than the fact that he, as a rich white male who is part of a powerful family, got into Yale.

The war is being funded in part by American oil companies. I myself don't need 'proof' that this war was an incredibly selfish action...all I need to know is the backgrounds of Bush (who worked for oil companies his entire life b/f getting into politics) and other people who are responsible for this war (Cheney and his Halliburton connection, the contractors from oil companies who were sent over to Iraq to work as security officers, ect.) - not to mention the fact that the other reasons he gave for the war have been all but disproven - no WMD's, no connection to 9/11 - AND the fact that Iraq never asked for our help in the first place - other places (Rwanda) DID, but there was nothing in it for us so we didn't do anything for them. Like Moore, I have put 2 and 2 together in order to see that there are a lot of things that just seem a tad 'off' about this war.

"I wonder what is worse...Blindly following Bush or blindly following Kerry? Those who say we are blind Bush supporters seem to themselves be blind Kerry supporters, go figure!"

I'm not a blind Kerry follower; I don't know many people who are! I am however someone who will vote for anyone but Bush b/c I disagree with absolutely everything he says, and I have no trouble admitting that.

Hi JC

<<"Like Moore, I have put 2 and 2 together in order to see that there are a lot of things that just seem a tad 'off' about this war.">>..... thing is that MM puts 2 and 2 together and ends up with 6 :)

The following link to a thread about MM (from the Politics Today board) might be interesting for you to read, and shed some more light on MM:

Don't worry about all the negative posts, because pro or con, it is all "free publicity" for the film and I'm sure MM loves it.

Besides, no one is really going to hold a filmmaker to a higher standard than an administration politician;-)

But just to set the record straight, Bush is educated, college educated with a degree and everything. So that's not really a valid criticism... you can criticize his decisions, criticize his reasons for doing what he does and did, but saying he's "uneducated" ignores the facts of the matter.

I am sorry, but he was a C student that only got in by his name and not his intelligence.
