Farenheit 9/11 put in perspective

Its a frickin film! You know...just like Armogeddon, The Day After Tomorrow, and Bowling For Columbine? No need to crap a farking brick over it. Its amazing how some people can get so worked up over another person's opinion. Its even more amazing that some people take HOLLYWOOD CREATIONS as truths! Yeah, I saw it. I laughed because I know that the film is skewed far left but he does make very good points. After I got out of the theater, two guys got into a brawl over it in the parking lot....over...a...frickin...MOVIE. And you wonder why some people have less and less faith in the American people? We're acting like morons over the most trivial stuff. No need to yell at other people to get out of the country, no need to proclaim the word of Michael Moore as truth. If you're so deadset on what you believe, then you can watch the film as entertainment and acknowledge its existence, right? Why do you get so offended by it? It always amuses me how people generally have the opinion of "Yeah I believe in freedom of speech as long as it conforms with what I believe in." In the words of my mother, "GROW UP!"

Yes but you wanted an example and a reference. That is what I gave you. You did not ask me to prove to you that the majority of society thinks this way.
your question was why am I not offended by the one who tihnks he is the God of Truth. And I was just clarifyin that he does not think he is the God of truth. What you have stated on numerous occassions is irrelevant to the conversation.
There are many agreements amongst people in the government and certain people that is not to be revealed to the public. This would most likely be one of them. Though the American public has a RIGHT to the truth, my guess is that the government holds that truth until they are forced to speak it.
From my point of view, Bush is an evil bastard; but that's a moot point.
And, whether or not Michael Moore speaks the God's honest truth is also moot.
Michael Moore says that there are inconsistencies that need to be explained and asking said questions in the US has gotten him on the receiving end of a "stifle yourself Edith" mentality, and that's contrary to Freedom of Speech; and that's even more anti-american than me. ;)
Fwiw, I don't think that Michael Moore is God, but I find it rather hmmm, ironic (?) that the land of the free and the home of "Guaranteed Freedom of Speech" seeks to stifle Michael Moore but has no problem with Tom Metzger or paster Thomas Robb.
Personally, I believe that stifling people who want people to think is way more dangerous than not stifling people who prefer that we don't.

>"The controversy over this film has created a wealth of opportunity to discuss issues, positions, facts ect. IMO that is not bad.
What would be bad is if society tried to suppress things that made us uncomfortable or that we didn't agree with. "<

Hi Tina!
so in actuality it is just a few people on one thread who had an opinion stating the right couldn't handle the truth, hardly expresses a widely viewed belief.
>>>>What you have stated on numerous occassions is irrelevant to the conversation.<<<
yes it is because you claimed I didn't know the difference, remember
>>>And no, Michael Moore does not claim to be the God of Truth. He's just a very opinionated director. Sorry that you can't tell the difference.<<
>>>Though the American public has a RIGHT to the truth, my guess is that the government holds that truth until they are forced to speak it.<<<
and why should we have to force our govenment to speak the truth about why the bin ladens were allowed to leave the country? do you think it was okay they were allowed to leave and why?
Don't merge two things I have said together if you want to have a proper debate. I told you to go explore other boards to find proof that people are taking this film at verbatim.
I found plenty of inaccuracies in the nearly 2 hour long film---you want me to go through each and every one of them? For some examples---MM chasing down that senator asking him to sign the petition to let kids of congressmen go into Iraq to fight--he made it seem as if congressmen are vain and selfish but in fact, that congressman's son and nephew are already in Iraq. Look it up. There's plenty of others. I really don't feel like going through all of them since I am at work . I am, however, willing to mention some more if you absolutely insist.
Letting the Bin Ladin family fly away on the 13th.
I never said he was a liar. I said he skewed things, like many other public figures with power of influence skew things. once again, don't, for the sake of a good debate, put words into my mouth and I will try not to resort to personal insults. Sorry about that by the way. Funny how you think I'm republican just because I've criticized the left. In case you're interested, I'm probably the most faithful democrate you'll ever met.
A documentary is not supposed to be an opinion of any sort.
By definition alone, it is supposed to be unbiased, and factual.
Documentary:
doc·u·men·ta·ry ( P ) Pronunciation Key (dky-mnt-r)
adj.
1) Consisting of, concerning, or based on documents.
2) Presenting facts objectively without editorializing or inserting fictional matter, as
in a book or film.
- A documentary IS supposed to be someone elses OPINION, it is more akin to a EDITORIAL, not a news reporting avenue.
I don't see anywhere in the definition where it says it is someones opinion. It says it is based on facts, WITHOUT editorializing or inserting fictional matter.
-- A documentary is NOT a news report it is a FILM from a PERSON'S perspective
Again, no. It is presenting FACTS OBJECTIVELY. (see the definition for a full explanation)
While I can't prove it is a widely viewed belief, you can't prove it isn't;)
Simply answer. The people can't handle the truth. Too many far leftists and far rightist that would probably cause chaos if the truth was told to them. As for whether or not they were allowed to leave, I'll reserve my opinion until I know more. I have to admit I don't know jackshiat about the Bin Ladin family other than they produced a son who was in the CIA and then became a terrorist.
I am quite sure there are a few people that take this film as verbatim just as they do fox news.
>>>MM chasing down that senator asking him to sign the petition to let kids of congressmen go into Iraq to fight--he made it seem as if congressmen are vain and selfish but in fact, that congressman's son and nephew are already in Iraq.<<
Sheesh Thankyou finally.I don't need to I saw the movie and the congressmen didn't look vain or selfish at all, he looked confused at the question since he already has relatives in the military. as for the other senator, the guy didn't have a chance to respond, that hardly makes him look vain or selfish. If moore was so keen on skewing facts I would have thought moore would have edited the senator with the relatives in the military because it would not have supported his point.
>>>Funny how you think I'm republican just because I've criticized the left.<<
I didn't make any mention of your political leanings or affiliations.
