Lynne Cheney's novel...

was published over 20 years ago. A re-release was blocked earlier this year. Why? The main character in the book is a lesbian. I so want to read this book, and will eventually track down a copy when I can get into used bookstores again...

Yup, it's possible, but I've a fondness for used book stores!

I read parts of this book somewhere awhile ago but I can't remember the site. I think this is the type of book my sisters and I used to call a "crotch novel". Has she written anything "substancial" since?

We always called them "pant and paw" stories.

I find it amusing that the story about this novel was buried quite quickly - I mean, the horror of it all, the VP's wife wrote a novel about a lesbian!

I'd love to read this book too.

If you like used book stores you might like the concept of Bookcrossing.com you should check it out if you havn't already.

Also, did a search on Lynne Cheney and there was one copy of this book but it didn't look available.

And get this, I'm from Wyoming. I thought I'd check out the library for this book thinking there would be no way they would have it being Cheney's state. But it is there and it is available. Go figure.

No idea... I find it amusing the RNC is tripping all over itself to keep this book out of public availability... isn't this the party of free enterprise? They want to re-release the book... why the big deal? ;-)

That is interesting! Wonder if it is *actually* on the shelves?

I found some interesting stuff on the book at Amazon.com.

After the book description is this disclaimer:

"--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title."

Which you can't buy it at Amazon but that statement implies to me that there are other editions that might be edited from the original. I don't know much about publishing so I could be off the mark on that.

This is suppose to be an excerpt:

None of the reviews at Amazon were that great though they had interesting thoughts on the book.

The book has increasing interest in our community, and believe it does have political relevance.

One of the amazon reviewers posted a link to chapters being posted on the web:

Looks like there are three so far for your viewing pleasure!
