what do you think?
IMHO, it doesn't bother me that he's gay or that he cheated on his wife (let's be honest, most straight politicans cheat). i'm sorry he feels b/c of the law suit he has to leave office and that he couldn't just be himself to begin with.

Perhaps the thing that most disturbs me about the situation is that, after all he is personally responsible for -- from ruining his marriage and disgracing his children to putting NJ citizens at risk by appointing his inexperienced lover to positions of extraordinary power over security and allowing himself to become closely associated with corrupt fundraisers -- he has the audacity to drag out his resignation for three months. Why? Because if it were to be effective prior to November 15th of this year, our state constitution requires a special election be held to replace him. After that date, the president of our state senate -- a Democrat -- automatically succeeds McGreevey until the normal election in '05.
Still playing politics at a time like this.
Oh, and living in NJ all my life, I can assure you -- what the democrats say and what the media say are one in the same ;)

Since living on the East coast I read about so many crooked politicians at the
Yes it is wrong, so wrong, but don't call him dispicable unless you plan on denouncing all of these "heros".
Or is he dispicable only because he is gay?
It's not the cheating on his wife or being gay.
>"Lawmakers were angry that McGreevey's top security aide was not subjected to a background check required for all Cabinet members and major nominations. When members of the Senate Judiciary Committee demanded that Cipel testify before them, McGreevey reassigned him to a job as "counselor to the governor" with no specified duties.
A Gannett State Bureau report two weeks ago showed McGreevey relied on exaggerated anti-terrorism credentials to justify Cipel's hiring for the $110,000-a-year post, which included an office on the second floor of the Statehouse."<
Quote from article link in post #9.
Read post #8 Tells how Cipel tried to blackmail McGreevey.
I dont care that he finally came out of the closet, as it has been a "known" secret for many years that McGreevey was gay. Again, it bothers me a bit that he cheated on his wife, but not to the degree to have him step down.
When it comes to defrauding the people of NJ, that is where he erred tremendously and should step down.
His lover, who is an Israeli national was placed as the Homeland Security advisor to McGreevey. He is not a US citizen, and holds no security clearances, but was given the important assignment to act as McGreevey liason, and was paid by NJ tax dollars.

<<<I don't see people stomping on MLK Jr. or Michael Jordan, or John Elway, all of whom cheated on their wives. >>>
I know about Michael Jordan, and I THINK I may have heard something about MLK, Jr. but I think you're mistaken on Elway.
