Russian children hostage

I have looked at many different boards, on many different sites on this and I am disturbed by the fact most people seem to be embracing hate. On one site people were advocating extermination of all musilims(sp?). Is any one else disturbed by this?

I think we can all agree that we want the children and other to come out of that school safely. Why don't we each spend a few minutes in prayer to our respective God or gods for the safety of these people and the sanity of our race. I find it so hard to understand anyone advocating the complete extermination of a religion, or group of people. We may not be able to change some of those attitudes, but we can sure as hell try. Compassion is indiginous to all isn't it?

After 9/11, we saw candlelight vigils held by hundreds of thousands around the world. Where are the American vigils for the Russian children?>>

People from all over the world were killed *on 9/11 - they were not all American citizens. That could be one reason. If we held an "American vigil" for every victim of terrorism around the world we would have to do so, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Just because I'm not standing on some street corner holding a candle doesn't mean I didn't sit and cry and pray for days for those children and their parents.

I don't believe we should ever negotiate with terrorists because in doing so we are sending the message that their method of getting our attention is acceptable and it is NOT acceptable. What we negotiate is the issues that produce terrorists, and with the people who govern the areas in which these issues occur. By the time people get to the point of being terrorists it is too late. Of course that is a long term strategy and currently people just seem to want a quick fix and a convenient target.

those chechen women (black widows) didn't die for allah, they died because they have nothing left to live for and their poisoned hearts were exploited by those with a political agenda. You can't negotiate with those who have nothing to lose, with those whose hearts and souls are filled with vengeance and hatred. >>

I agree! What a well thought out post, worthy of being read again IMO.

I agree very good post.

Did you know one terrorist was killed before they took the children as hostage because he opposed going in school. Most of the time these recruit terrorist don't know what their assignment is untill they go to their meeting spot. After that it is hard for them to back out. That is what happened with the russia situation and the one who opposed to going in school was killed. Just knowing this gave me some solace that at least one terrorist was human.

"Just knowing this gave me some solace that at least one terrorist was human."

All terrorists are human. All criminals and murderers are human. All military men and women are human. We are all human.

When we separate ourselves from the savagery of our natures as human beings, we forget that we too, are capable of the same, given different circumstances.

How many good, decent Germans with Jewish friends participated in the holocaust?

How many good, decent men and women in Iraq are trained to shoot everything that moves - man, woman or child? Our soldiers are.

War is the nastiest thing in human experience. It brings out the best and worst in all of us, on all sides. God bless you.

One little boy who survived said that many of them wanted to let the children go. One terrorist who was a "leader" *had 20 children who died and that is why he wanted to kill children.

What I meant was that at least one viewed the kids as kids and not just the object of their mission.
