CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A northwest girl stopped what could have been another Columbine-style school attack.
It all started when the Moscow, Idaho girl was chatting online with a boy from Michigan.
She says the boy told her about plans to blow up his school.
The girl then told her dad, who is a police officer at Washington State University. Her father tipped off police in Michigan.
When police in Michigan searched the boy's home, they found ammunition, assault weapons, and bomb-making materials.
"Looks like he was planning to build up an arsenal," said Captain Douglas Mills of the Clinton Township Police Department. "We firmly believe he was planning an attack."
Police say Andrew Osantowski, 17, threatened to kill a police liaison officer at his high school and blow up the school.
Osantowski is now charged with several crimes, including threatening terrorism and concealing stolen firearms. His father faces a weapons charge, too.
A 33-year-old friend is accused of giving the teen bomb making instructions.
Police in Michigan say if not for the father and daughter from our area, it could have been much worse.
"This young lady and officer in Washington, they stepped up and got involved and made a difference here," said Police Chief Al Ernst with the Clinton Township Police Department.
