Can I get help?

I don't know much on the subject and maybe someone with more knowledge can point me in a direction (if there is one)

I graduated from college last May with a BA in Hospitality Management. I decided to take the summer off before looking for a full-time job since I have worked all of high school and college. Well that was clearly a bad decision since the economy went downhill. I have been looking, calling, e-mailing, and applying place since September. I still cannot find a full-time job doing anything. I'm always turned down because I am out of college with little experience so of course I can't compete with all these people searching for jobs whom have experience from years past.

I know the government is giving money to people in college to help them pay and also people are getting unemployment. Here is my situation: I can't pay my loans from my past 4 years of college and I dont't think I can even collect unemployment since Ive never even had a full-time job. I'm really trying everything I can to find employment but I have no money and the bills keep coming.

Does anyone know of any grants or government support I can possibly benefit from. Things have gotten horrible and I don't want to ruin my credit because I can't pay loans from school, when I thought I'd be able to get a job. If i would have known the job situation I would have known I couldn't afford college.

Any information or insight would be a huge help!

Welcome to In The News.

I'm not really sure, but the first thing I would do is to go to the website for my state & see what info I can get from there.

You can ask for a harship deferral on the student loans. They will still accumulate interest but you won't be required to make payments, so you won't be ruining your credit. That is, if they were, government backed student loans to begin with. You would do this by calling the financial aid department at your school or the student loan company and filling out the correct forms. It is important that you are in communication with your lender and don't ignore them.
