Grrrrrr!!!

Okay.  I'm just going to say it.  Since they have changed the format here, I have had nothing but problems!  If I am trying to read a post, I have all this stuff popping up.  NO not pop up ads.  I get things like:

Must abort this site. It's busy.

Continue this script?

Must shut down this site.

Freezing screen

This web page is not available.

Sometimes, I only get half of the Message Board Central

I am lucky if I can be here for more than 5 minutes.  Then problems start.

Frustration is getting to me.  If anyone has any ideas?  No virus.

iVillage optimized its website for Windows Explorer.

When posting with Firefox (at least with 2.0) at iVillage's sites, there is no option to format. Another member said that Xinha could be used with Firefox so I downloaded it. Have TRIED to use it here, even on this post, to no avail. Probably need to dink around with it more but have always figured that one's words were of more import than the font or color used to display them.

If it ain't easy to make my posts purty, jest ain't agonna bother!

On the other hand, lack of formatting aside, I have had no problems whatsoever with my computer locking up here.

DD has XP on her desktop (E Machine...and I wouldn't recommend that hardware to anyone, it's been a real headache over the years) & Vista on her HP Laptop.

My understanding of Vista is that it's not compatible with older peripherals--like printers, speakers, what have you. DH flat out refused to use it on the newer machines of his small business for that reason.

About a year ago, I read an interview between a journalist and the CEO of a major computer manufacturer. The CEO was touting the features of his new high-end laptop. Couldn't get the computer to boot up with Vista. Tried repeatedly, wound up taking battery out. Finally, the computer booted. Vista does not have a good reputation.

Here's a thought. If you find Vista is as troublesome as reviews have indicated, couldn't you simply retire your old computer, take its XP OS disk and load that on the new computer? But if you do that, I'd make sure you never use the old machine again (since Microsoft likes to spy when you update to make sure you haven't cheated and use the same serial number OS on more than one machine); and don't create too many files with Vista since those will be wiped out if you put in a different OS.

I had an E-Machine, fact is i have had several e-machines! This is my first HP. I think it has Vista Service pac2. I was having a problem with a program called Magnetic, it's really neat desktop themes(pictures) and I think it was what was giving me a white screen, I would close

Actually, DD hasn't had any issues with Vista at all...nor has anyone else that I know who has it (maybe 25 people?...).

Have you folks having trouble tried using the Mozilla Firefox browser (as opposed to Internet Explorer)? I use Firefox and have not seen any of those problems. Firefox occassionally takes a few moments to respond, but no wild pop-up errors. Once you gain your patience ... the firefox browser is fine.

Instead of getting to this board via the menu...

While you're on the board go the your "favorites" or "bookmarks" whichever your toolbar has.

If you have "Favorites" click on it, then choose "Add to Favorites". In the future you can go there & click on the "In the News" link.

If you have "Bookmark" click on it, then choose "Bookmark This Page".
In the future you can go there & click on the "In the News" link.

Hope this helps, Chris :)

If you have any questions you can email me at the link in my profile.

I suspect the problems are to do with dial-up vs broadband.
I have broadband & generally use IE without any problems. As I mentioned before I also use Firefox, which I find is fast, or Chrome sometimes.

For anyone one having problems they might want to try one of these browsers. (As I mentioned before you wont have access to colours, text changes & such). One goodie Firefox has a built-in spell-check like MS Word.
