An ipod!
Excuse me! That isn't the proper gift! She's royalty! This is one of those examples when you pull out all the stops! When you use Great Grandma's expensive bone china that is kept in the hutch in the parlor and all the kids are never allowed to go near it because its saved for special occasions!
Does this man know nothing? For crying out loud,go read an etiquette manual! Or get someone who specializes in royal protocol!
And she already has an Ipod!
Another faux paux added to the list! After giving the PM dvds which were the wrong region to play in the UK.
Look,I know he's a rookie, but if you don't know, ask! People will respect you a lot more if you admit you don't know. Ask questions. This is how you learn.

Actually, The Queen has remarked before that she tried out the Prince's Wii and found it very enjoyable so I think she would find an iPod interesting.
How do you know she already has an iPod? Just wondering because I've never read anything about it. I agree that Obama's

Well....It wasn't just an iPod....First of all, it was loaded with footage and photos of her last royal visit to the US along with a large selection of classic show tunes (apparently, the Queen is a huge fan of American broadway music)...As well, she was given a rare song book signed by Richard Rodgers....Further in the article below, it describes gifts given to Sarah Brown and her children.
Much ado about nothing IMO.

LONDON -- Queen Elizabeth II wasn't the only one on President Barack Obama's gift list Wednesday.
He gave presents to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's wife, Sarah, and their two sons, too.
Obama and first lady Michelle Obama presented the queen with a rare coffee table book of songs by composers Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart that Rodgers had signed in May 1952.
But word that he also had given her an iPod created plenty of buzz as it conjured up images of the British monarch all plugged up, earbuds in place, and perhaps bopping to the 40 show tunes on the portable device.
To bring the 240-plus page book to life, the iPod was loaded with dozens of classic show tunes, including several from "Camelot," which was based on the King Arthur legend, and "My Fair Lady," which was set in London.
The iPod also includes photos and video from the queen's 2007 visit to Virginia and Washington, photos from Obama's Jan. 20 inauguration and audio of his inauguration address.
Sarah Brown received a crocheted black flower brooch, accented with pearls.
Sons John and James were presented with baseball memorabilia, including a bat signed by New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, a signed presidential baseball and a collection of 10 Dr. Seuss books.
There were no gifts for the prime minister or Prince Philip, the queen's husband, per their offices.
In return the queen and the prince gave the Obamas a signed portrait of themselves.
What do you give to someone that does, or can, have anything they want?
Obama's gifts to the Queen were most appropriate & thoughtful IMO.

Thank you libraone and moxysuvous for those posts. I read those last night. I agree fretting over this small stuff is absurd. I was quite impressed by the book signed by Rogers, but figured many didn't have a clue who he was, so......
Personally, I COULD see the Queen bee bopping around the castle listening to show tunes. Why not? Any woman who can get thrown from her horse and get back in the saddle, have a retinue of comical dogs like Corgis, and Charles for a son, must cut loose behind closed doors, sometimes. What, do people think she walks around the castle with her little purse and hat on all the time?
I think the "outrage" over the gift just comes from idots that are
still fuming that he won the election.
