Regarding the Miss CA issue....
| Mon, 05-11-2009 - 11:45pm |
I did not see the show but days after I read what happened to the lady. I have to say several things here:
- Why in the first place this so called celebrity Perez Hilton was named judge? I thought the Miss USA organization name objective educated and professional people so they can become judges and not just any person who likes to be judge, because im famous, im a gossiper and I have a site on the internet for instance
- The poor lady is been blamed just because she spoke her mind and that is how she was raised? Im sure that if her answer would have been she supported gay marriage, also she would have created some controversy because she will the first miss during a national pageant to say she supported gay marriage. Either way she will look bad to the audience and the country
- Just because gay people nowadays have many rights does not mean the rights heterosexual no longer count.
- You have to respect her decision, as Im sure if her answer was she supported gay marriage Im sure she will ask for the same in return: respect. She was raised like that, she still have values, when nowadays many people don’t even have she firmly believes in marriage between a man and a woman, what is bad about that?? That is how she sees it.
- I don’t think she has to give up her crown or that the organization scold her just because she spoke her mind, she was asked a question, she answered honestly what she think was correct the way she was raised. If people want to blame somebody then blame her mom for raising her like that, if that is the case. IMHO

I realize that Perez Hilton is just one person. But he does speak for the gay community. I find it interesting that not ONE SINGLE person on this thread has never once spoken against HIM (except for me and boy look at the backlash I am getting now)! People on these boards will find fault with Miss California, for her answer or how she answered or how she carried on after the contest. But not a single comment on the horrible way Perez Hilton acted or carried on after the contest. Why is that?

The conservative community is constantly 'blamed' for what Rush Limbaugh or Hannity say especially on these ivillage boards.
I am so frustrated with how two-sided people are. Darn that Miss CA for not supporting gay marrige but who cares that Perez Hilton called her a dumb B!tch or a C***! Right? That is perfectly okay?

I never said he spoke for the ENTIRE gay community. I do find it interesting how you twist what I have said. I also find it interesting that not a single gay person in these message boards has yet to condemn what he has said. He does speak on behalf of the gay community. He is a "famous" person who is on television and has a vehicle to spew his hatred to those who do not agree with him. The gay community's silence towards what he said and how he acted speak volumes!
Why has NOBODY on these boards EVER once said he was wrong to carry on that way (besides me)? Do YOU think it was okay for him to carry on the way he has? Does EVERYONE have to support his views or else be called a dumb B!tch or C***?
Interesting. There are women who call themselves "b!tch" as pointed out in the other thread.
"I never said he spoke for the ENTIRE gay community. "
You said the gay community called her every name in the book and when asked for examples, you provided Perez. What did you mean by the gay community comment, then?
<< If he did call Miss CA all that you've said (and I don't have enough interest in him to follow the link), then it was uncalled for.>>
If you were not interested in following the link, then why did you ask me for it?
<>
Can you show me a link where women call themselves "b!tch"? Also, Perez didn't say "b!tch". If you had listened to the link I provided for you (that you asked for), you would know he said, "dumb b!tch, and C***".

I am unclear what exactly you are talking about here. In what way did Michael Steele and the rest of the GOP bend over backward for Rush and the dittoheads? Who are these dittoheads?
And for the record, I am not a conservative. According to the quiz on ivillage, I am actually a moderate. I am 60% conservative and 40% liberal. I guess that's why I am a registered Independent. So again, your assumption of me being a conservative is wrong.

Why do you keep saying I accused everyone? I didn't accuse anyone of anything! Again, please quit twisting what I say.
I was only questioning why the gay community was upset with Joe the Plumbers use of the word "queer" when they use it themselves.
For example, "We are queer and we are here" and "Queer eye for the straight guy", etc. I asked if this word "queer" is somewhat like the "n" word for blacks and was told that it was. Apparently, it is okay for gays and Hollywood to use the word 'queer' to describe themselves but nobody else can use it. Okay, got it now.
So please quit twisting pretty much everything I say.
"I have no thoughts about Perez Hilton. I have no idea who he is, have never heard of him before this"
We must be out of touch I'd never heard of him before either.
"We must be out of touch I'd never heard of him before either."
Me too. I also have no clue who this spokesman for the "gay community" is.
I also always wonder about this whole "gay community" thing. Is it like a homeowners association or something, that you join when you realize the same sex turns you on? I never really think of myself as part of the "hetero community." I guess I must be an official member of the "cougar community" because I am older than my partner. Does that mean Demi Moore is our official spokesperson, and whatever she says and her opinions are representative of all women in older women/younger men relationships, or maybe Cher, Madonna or Sharon Stone? This whole "community" line of reasoning and certain celebrities (???) speaking for them, comes across as a bit bizarre to me.
After Steele spoke his mind & was chastised on the RL show Steele was shamed into apologising.
Don't you see a little bending?
"....In what way did Michael Steele and the rest of the GOP bend over backward for Rush"
>"Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele took umbrage Saturday night when CNN's D.L. Hughley referred to radio host Rush Limbaugh as "the de facto leader of the Republican party."
"No he's not. I'm the de facto leader of the Republican party," Steele said. The RNC chief went on to call Limbaugh, who that very day delivered the keynote address to the Conservative Political Action Conference, a mere "entertainer" whose show is "incendiary" and "ugly.""<
Later Steele apologised to Limbaugh for calling him "a mere "entertainer" whose show is "incendiary" and "ugly".

That's the problem when posting generalisations.
"the "cougar community" because I am older than my partner."
LOL Me too. We'll have to get together to discuss a cougar agenda.
