Regarding the Miss CA issue....

I did not see the show but days after I read what happened to the lady. I have to say several things here:
- Why in the first place this so called celebrity Perez Hilton was named judge? I thought the Miss USA organization name objective educated and professional people so they can become judges and not just any person who likes to be judge, because im famous, im a gossiper and I have a site on the internet for instance
- The poor lady is been blamed just because she spoke her mind and that is how she was raised? Im sure that if her answer would have been she supported gay marriage, also she would have created some controversy because she will the first miss during a national pageant to say she supported gay marriage. Either way she will look bad to the audience and the country
- Just because gay people nowadays have many rights does not mean the rights heterosexual no longer count.
- You have to respect her decision, as Im sure if her answer was she supported gay marriage Im sure she will ask for the same in return: respect. She was raised like that, she still have values, when nowadays many people don’t even have she firmly believes in marriage between a man and a woman, what is bad about that?? That is how she sees it.
- I don’t think she has to give up her crown or that the organization scold her just because she spoke her mind, she was asked a question, she answered honestly what she think was correct the way she was raised. If people want to blame somebody then blame her mom for raising her like that, if that is the case. IMHO

Thank you for clarifying. I am routinely accused by someone on this board of being conservative. I am not. I didn't have any idea what this person was talking about. But, I routinely see people blaming or accusing conservatives of listening to Rush and following Rush. For the record, I don't listen to Rush and am curious why he keeps making it into the spotlight. He is an old windbag as far as I am concerned.
I also never said that Perez Hilton was the spokesperson for the gay community. This same person keeps twisting what I said. I find it interesting that the gay community (of which Perez Hilton is a member) didn't once say anything to condemn his actions. Nobody on these boards ever once spoke out against his despicable behavior. I also find it odd that NOBODY even knows who this man is. NOBODY has ever heard of him before. Ironically, EVERYBODY seems to know who Miss CA is and EVERYBODY seems to know what she said. That goes for Joe the Plumber too.
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised....this is ivillage afterall.
"If you were not interested in following the link, then why did you ask me for it? "
I did??? I asked for links that showed the gay community called her every name in the book.
So please quit twisting pretty much everything I say."
Apprently you don't get it.
"I also never said that Perez Hilton was the spokesperson for the gay community. This same person keeps twisting what I said. "
Again, from your words, when you said the gay community called Miss CA every name in the book and I asked for links to show that, you posted Perez's view. If you don't think he speaks for the gay community, can you provide links to legitimate gay rights groups that have called Miss USA names? If not, what were you talking about when you said the gay community has done that?
"I also find it odd that NOBODY even knows who this man is. NOBODY has ever heard of him before. Ironically, EVERYBODY seems to know who Miss CA is and EVERYBODY seems to know what she said."
Before this non-issue, in my mind, I hadn't heard of Miss CA, either. The whole incident has brought the irrelevant beauty pageant front and center, boistered by conservatives (not you, since you are not one) who are in an uproar, eg. OP. My personal belief is that they, and Miss CA, are pawns of Donald Trump and the Miss USA pageant.

Really? That's too funny. You have already accused me of being a conservative who discriminates against gays.
I'd never heard of Perez Hilton, either.
"Just that he's gay and was a judge in the pageant."
That's all I know about him too. Guess we're not into pop 'culture'. :)
