I've read that in Chicago the dead vote. I wasn't expecting to read about them getting stimulus checks too. I wonder how this will be managed?

Dead People Get Stimulus
Checks

This week, thousands of people are getting stimulus checks in the mail. The problem is that a lot of them are dead. A Long Island woman was shocked when she checked the mail and received a letter from the U.S. Treasury -- but it wasn't for her.

Antoniette Santopadre of Valley Stream was expecting a $250 stimulus check. But when her son finally opened it, they saw that the check was made out to her father, Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago. He'd been a U.S. citizen when he left for Italy in 1933, but only returned to the United Stated for a seven-month visit in 1969.

The Santopadres are not alone. The Social Security Administration, which sent out 52 million checks, says that some of those checks mistakenly went to dead people because the agency had no record of their death. That amounts to between 8,000 and 10,000 checks for millions of dollars.

The feds blame a rushed schedule, because all the checks have to be cut by June. The strange this is, some of the checks were made out to people -- like Romonini -- who were never even part of the Social Security system.

Have you ever tried Zaba Checking your name? Try it sometime and see how many people have your name. Try using your maiden name also. I found 3 pages of people with my name with my maiden name!

As far as how this happens that dead people get checks, it's called the computer age. how do people steal other's idenities?

"Have you ever tried Zaba Checking your name?"

Wow! I'd never tried this. Much of the info. about me is wrong. Places I've lived most are incorrect & I have none of the relatives they have listed. It does explain to me why I've been getting calls for someone called Vickie *****. All the calls sound like debt collectors & one was from a law office.

To get one's info. removed send an ID, state or driver's licence, with photo & # blocked out & fax to 425-974-6194.

Thank you for mentioning the site. Much appreciated. :)

That's great! But, I wonder how long it will continue to be deposited into your account after you are long gone. LOL!

If there's a way I can take it with me.... ;)

A friend's DH died about 6 weeks ago. SS deducted a partial amount from her check because he had not survived the complete pay period. I thought this was tacky. It was something like an overpayment of 10 days.

Maybe a relative should be notifying that their loved one has passed away. My neighbor died on the 9th of this month. His newspaper is still being delivered.

Our government assigns a unique social security number to each individual. It doesn't matter how many share the same name.

In the instance cited in my first post, a person who wasn't part of social security was getting his stimulus check.
