HS Graduation cancelled
| Fri, 06-05-2009 - 12:26pm |
This was just on our local news.
A Centerburg, Oh. High School is canceling graduation because someone hacked into the computer and got the answers to a final exam. They didn't say how many were involved.
One Parent was on TV saying that they would be holding Graduation ceremonies in a nearby park.
This was breaking news so I don't have a lot of info.
Too harsh? Not harsh enough? Is the school right? Wrong?

That's suppose to be Centerburg, Oh. not Centerville. I have a relative that lives in Centerville in another state. Sorry.
I agree with the Board of Education. It's a hard lesson for these kids.

"the hacker/s should be expelled, and any in possession of the info suspended and required to repeat the semester before they can graduate. This is stealing, cheating and dishonesty."
I agree with you wholeheartedly.
From what was reported yesterday and today, there are 97 Seniors. One report said 50 of those seniors had a copy of the test. Today, the report said 75% of them had a copy of the test. The person who hacked into the system was expelled.
Another report said that the Seniors would have enough credits to graduate anyway. And their grades were good enough that it would have little impact on their final grade.
Sorry forgot to add: The student was caught when he posted on a MySpace page about a big prank pulled on the school. Not very bright.
