White supremacist Hal Turner arrested, charged
FBI says blogger threatened to kill 3 U.S. appellate judges in Chicago
A blogger and Internet radio host from New Jersey was arrested Wednesday by the FBI on charges he threatened to kill three federal appellate judges in Chicago.
The federal charges, filed in Chicago, alleged white supremacist Hal Turner called for the judges' murders after they affirmed on June 2 a lower court decision to dismiss challenges to Chicago's ban on handguns.
The three have each served as chief judge of the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals: Frank Easterbrook, the current chief judge; Richard Posner, one of the best-known appellate judges in the country and a prolific author; and William Bauer, a veteran jurist and onetime U.S. attorney.
The charges alleged Turner used his Web site to call the three "cunning, ruthless, untrustworthy, disloyal, unpatriotic, deceitful scum" who violated the Constitution. "Let me be the first to say this plainly: These judges deserve to be killed," officials quoted the site. More......
Shock Jock May Have Stepped Over Line
He’s been described as a white supremacist and a shock jock. But those extremist views have only helped New Jersey’s Harold “Hal†Turner develop a cult following for weekly radio webcasts – and an accompanying blog – that often include vitriolic criticism of political figures.
But is Turner a criminal? Connecticut State Capitol Police say yes, his lawyers say no and First Amendment experts are watching a case that seems to test the limits of free speech.
In early June, Turner urged listeners and readers of his blog to “take up arms†against state Rep. Michael Lawlor and Sen. Andrew McDonald, the co-chairs of the Connecticut legislature’s Judiciary Committee.
He was angry that the lawmakers briefly supported a bill that would have allowed independent boards to oversee Catholic parish finances. And he was upset by an Office of State Ethics decision that the Diocese of Bridgeport should be required to register as a lobbyist after it organized protests against the parish oversight bill.

Either way I think this is almost certainly going to go to the USSC at some point down the road, and I think that that will be a good thing.

"Where will draw the line between shouting "fire" in a crowded movie theater to free speech?
This type of speech in dangerous & could incite action by some of his listeners/readers. You or I wouldn't waste our time listening to this guy but those like-minded individuals could easily take him seriously. The public & FCC complains when they hear the "f" word broadcast, yet, that word said a millions times isn't as harmful as saying a public figure SB killed.
I agree.
