"This is some small justice for all the harm he's done."
He's devastated so many lives. Jail time just doesn't seem enough punishment.......
Bernard Madoff receives maximum 150 year sentence
In a sign of the anger that the fraud has stirred, US marshals were positioned behind Madoff, who was dressed in a dark suit and white shirt, in court as a protective measure
SHE used to get foil highlights every six weeks — her shade is Soft Baby Blonde, and she was religious about color — but the last time she called her Manhattan salon, Pierre Michel on East 57th Street, she was told not to return. “I understand,” she said, according to the salon’s co-owner.
The Amagansett florist who decorated her husband’s annual corporate party in Montauk with lismachia, Queen Anne’s lace and thistles has banned her as a client, saying she will not associate with the wife of one of history’s most notorious financial scoundrels.
Even her sons, Mark and Andrew, who have not been charged by prosecutors but are banned by their lawyers from contact with their parents, have begun to refer to “Mom” and “Dad” as “Ruth” and “Bernie,” according to family friends. More.....
During lunch today I read an article concerning 20-25 people who all lost their life savings to this hateful weasil of a man. It was so disheartening to read about all of these lives being destroyed by the greed of one man. In the article, one of the victims commented that each time
Ah, Ken Lay. Now THAT was a human being who should have rotted away behind bars, and not kept in solitary confinement either, if you get my drift!!
I knew a man who invested very heavily in Enron stock back then. He lost every nickel of it in the end.
I seriously don't know how people can be that callous to ruin so many lives and not even seem remorseful about it when they get caught.
Madoff, to his credit, and I can't believe I'm even saying this, at least was man enough to not throw his sons or wife under the bus too. He took full responsibility for his actions, even though common sense tells you he had to have help to pull off a scam of that magnitude.
A person familiar with the investigation into disgraced financier Bernard Madoff says at least 10 more people are likely to be charged by the time the probe is complete.
The person tells The Associated Press they will face federal charges over the next few months. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Madoff was sentenced Monday to 150 years in prison for a multibillion-dollar fraud that burned thousands of investors.
The person familiar with the probe wouldn't detail the likely charges against the others or say whether they would include Madoff's relatives or former employees.
The only other person charged in the case is Madoff's longtime accountant, who was accused of failing to make basic auditing checks and was arrested in March.
My mother, who was a child during the Depression, always used to say "don't play the stock market unless you have money to lose."
And that's as true today as it's ever been. Investing is risky business. It's a gamble, even if you aren't dealing with low-lives and thieves. No one should invest every penny they have into one or two "sure-things".

Brian Ross, who attended the hearing today and filed for WORLD NEWS, noted that “even the hardest of criminals usually have someone who tries to defend them before a sentencing judge. Not Bernard Madoff. The judge today said he had not received a single letter on Madoff’s behalf from family or friends. Even his own lawyer called him a deeply flawed individual.”
