TG he didn't kill the man & his little daughter.

Why is the drunk driving? A three year sentence would not be long enough IMO.

NJ man on 15th drunken-driving offense: I'm guilty

MORRISTOWN, N.J.—A New Jersey man whose driver's license has been suspended 78 times has pleaded guilty to his 15th drunken-driving offense.

Shaun Campbell of East Rutherford told a judge Tuesday that he had been drinking "quite a bit" of beer when he crashed his SUV head-on into a pickup in April. The truck's occupants, a man and his 4-year-old daughter, were not seriously hurt.

The 40-year-old Campbell's blood-alcohol level was .288 percent, more than triple the state's legal limit.

Authorities say Campbell's license has been suspended 78 times in 22 years. He still faces drunken-driving charges in two other New Jersey cities.

Prosecutors are seeking a maximum prison term of nearly three years at Campbell's sentencing in August. He will lose his license for at least 10 more years.

Yes, he really does need to be locked up to remove him from society.

Thank you for posting this. It has always amazed me how the judges continue to allow these morons to get back on the road behind the wheel of a vehicle.

I have a guy here in my hometown who has bartended at nearly every tavern in my part of the city who has this same issue. Reports vary depending on who's telling the story, but at last count he has had 17 DUI's, and the chilling part about it is that it wasn't until he had his last one that he was given a prison sentence. He's a great guy to talk to, and he has a knack for making people laugh and have a good time. I have had many a conversation with him about why he feels he must get behind the wheel of a car when he's drunk. He told me that each time he got nabbed, he felt that he was "fine" to drive. I think most of these multiple offenders have that same mindset.

I know another person, a young lady that just turned 21 this year who has had 2 DUI's, both while under the legal drinking age. After her second one, the judge ordered her to have yellow plates put on her car to show others that she has been convicted of a DUI, plus she had to pay nearly $1000 for a breathalizer device that is installed in her car that she not only has to blow in prior to the car being started, but every 15 minutes that the car is running. I heard her complaining to someone about how "inconvenient" it was to have to do that, and I wasn't able to hold my tongue. I told her she should feel fortunate that the judge didn't take away her driving privileges for 10 years, and that if it were me handing out a sentence to someone so young that can't seem to understand the dangers of drinking and driving, she would be behind bars. I don't think I'll be on her Christmas card list this year....:)))

I see this as about as effective as taking the licenses away of illegal immigrants.
