Sara Palin RESIGNS
| Fri, 07-03-2009 - 4:13pm |
ABC News' Kate Barrett Reports: Sarah Palin announced Friday that she will step down from her post as Alaska governor at the end of the month, and will not run for reelection.
In a press conference from her Wasilla home, the Alaska governor said “this decision has been in the works for awhile,†and said, “I’m not wired to operate under the same old politics as usual.â€
There’s been speculation that Palin has had her eye on the 2012 presidential race, but it’s unclear why she’s leaving before the end of her term. Her current run as governor ends in 2010.

Hi. Lurker coming out of hiding.
I just watched the whole news conference. I can never understand what the heck that woman is saying. It's one big word salad. She jumped from one subject to the other without finishing her thought. At one point she said something about
"I can never understand what the heck that woman is saying. It's one big word salad."
LOL
She was hinting around the other day at being able to imagine herself in Washington promoting fitness.
As an aside, she's got a book deal with HarperCollins.

Awwww.... just too bad Alaskans won't have Palin to kick around anymore. Perhaps she fancies herself as a political commentator. Doesn't matter to me as long as she plays no role in national debates or decisions.
The thought of another physically attractive but malaprop person in a position of power sends a frisson of fear down my spine.
In any event, not looking promising for the Republican party if it had hopes of grooming her higher office. She was sooo ready to be vice-president. But can't hack the governorship. Hmmmmmmm.
What next, GOP? That bar of strong and "moral" leadership has sunk so low that it's about 2 inches off the floor. How the mighty have fallen. Wonder if lessons have been learned from the overweaning pride and weight-throwing they've exhibited over the past fourteen years. Probably not--the powerful think that rules don't apply to them. One hopes the Democrats won't emulate them but they probably will.
Jabberwocka
Quite a lot of speculation flying around on why she resigned. TV deal; run for Pres. 2012; political fund-raiser. The investigation sure sounds plausible. Her announcement was so convoluted & circumlocutory
"the powerful think that rules don't apply to them"
True!
"syndicated talk or TV show. Rush is getting old."
He's far less attractive
Hiya :)
I thought that this was pretty good:
""She hasn't shown the intellectual qualities to be commander-in-chief, but you can be sure she's going to be working on it," Stephen Hess, a one-time aide to President Richard Nixon, said yesterday."
""Stranger people have looked into the mirror and said: `I want to be president of the United States.' You nominate yourself and then convince the party that you're the person, and she's going to have a pretty attentive audience as she goes about trying to do that.""
