Why so many cancer victims?

I'm sure there are those of you who read several weeks ago about the pro golfer, Phil Mickelson, and the sad fact that his beloved wife Amy had breast cancer. She recently had a very promising surgery procedure that hopefully will be a success, and she can live a long, healthy life.

It was just announced yesterday that Phil's mom has also been diagnosed with breast cancer, and is in the same hospital that Amy was in during her ordeal.

Why are there so many cases of breast cancer in women? Is this something that has been going on for decades but wasn't publicized as it is now, or due to more recent causes?

I will pray for the Mickelson family, and hope his mother has a speedy recovery. I know so many women, both young and old, who have had to undergo surgery and treatments for this most dreaded disease.

OH, I have transport, a 2009 Corolla, a rental. It's kinda nice, a bit smaller from my Honda Accord, but it will do till I get my car back. My concern is my grandson. I help my son out by picking him up and bringing him back to my home while my son works.

I know what you're experiencing. You can't help but worry.

Both my 'scares' turned out to be calcifications. I now have a small marker, a little arrow, inside my left breast.

I asked about calcifications, the Breast nurse didn't think it was that. The radioligist said it may not be cancer, but he said it looked suspicious. It's very small. I'm reading up on all I can. There is a procedure called RFA Radiofrequency ablation.

Bless your heart I know you're scared. Try to look on the positive side they've found it, it's small & treatable.

Hugs, Chris

I'll be thinking of you too. I just went through a needle biopsy recently. If that is what you are having done, expect to be as bruised as heck. They didn't warn me about how bad it would look. They said "a little bruising" but the whole underside of my breast was technicolor before it was over. My poor partner cringed every time he looked at me, which wasn't entirely helpful. In my case it turned out to be chronic, acute inflammation not cancer. But I sure waited on tenterhooks for the results.

Best wishes, prayers and positive thoughts.
