US health care is already rationed + SS

When my dh got laid off (the first time), I shopped around for private health care. Sure, the private health insurers would insure our three children (without health issues) but said NO to my dh and I (with previous health issues). So, rationed health care is a GIVEN, for sure, in the current health care debate.

We opted for COBRA, at a very expensive premium, for about a year. Absolutely ridiculous premiiums!!!

So don't tell me that health care is not rationed in the US because it is most assurely so!

Who amongst the Medicare/Medicaid-insured is ready to give up their health care?

Social Security recipients? My 20-yo and 18-yo working adult children will NEVER see their SS payments. So why are their SS payments being deducted?

I understand the state of SS, however my financial plan does not include having SS available.

Excellent idea! That is what we all should do. Then, we can really, really enjoy the extra bump that our unexpected Social Security check will give us. From reading your post, I thought that you actually believed that Social Security wouldn't be there. So long as we're in agreement that it will be there, we're on the same page.

So here is a catch 22 peopel with previously existing conditions find themselves in. My partner has a PE condition and cannot get health insurance. In order to be on state healthcare, because the cost of managing his condition is very costly, he cannot have more than $1,500 in liquid assets. This INCLUDES his automobile, unless it is older than a certain model year. This mean he CANNOT save for retirement, which would be the right and prudent thing to do. If his condition is not treated he CANNOT work, be a parent, a partner, help support his child, pay taxes,
