Something everyone should be aware of: in Pres. Obama's speech last night he mentioned a man who was denied insurance coverage for gall stones that he didnt even know he had - omitting an illness when applying. I am not sure if this is the same situation --- but when I decided to obtain copies of my medical records from various doctor's offices I had been to over the years .. one thing that stuck out at me was .. they lied about my visits. I have documentation where the physician actually handwrote items about illnesses or symptoms in my charts that I never discussed .. because I didnt have those problems. It makes you wonder if some physicians are in cahoots with the insurance companies to help keep their costs down. We know about doctors who defraud medicare or medicaid but I wonder if anyone has thought about the doctors out there who lie for a living by denying us treatment.

I wouldn't be surprised at anything anymore.
It's pretty easy to forget every little thing you've had wrong with you over the years. If I'm going to a doc with a cough does it aid in his diagnosis if I tell him I had my appendix out 40+ years ago?
Here's a rip-off I experienced.......
I had an orthopedic surgeon perform unnecessary surgery. I had the ball joint in my R. foot replaced with titanium. After my foot healed I has two lumps on the big toe. Went back complaining that they rubbed on my shoes & were uncomfortable. After the surgery I found he'd only removed one. Have not been back since so instead I don't buy shoes
I have in my records that I was concerned about a lesion on my nose .. when I have never had one, another doctor noted that I had lesions on my hands and feet ..when I have never had lesions there, another doctor said I had a shoulder problem on and off for years .. when that is not true -- he also said that my massage therapist told me to stop weight lifting .. when that is not true .. that i could have early degenerative disc disease of the cervical spine, another fib -- that I hear popping and cracking in left arm and shoulder (possible tendinitis)
It's no wonder health costs are so high. Those of us that carry health insurence are paying for all this 'stuff'.
It is amazing what you are told, are not told and what is fabricated. At a recent visit my Dr. mentioned my bout of pneumonia. I've never had pnuemonia or at least I was never told I had pnuemonia if I did. I have had bronchitis. I do have adult onset asthma, but pnuemonia was a new one on me.
The kicker for me was several years ago. (Sort of OT)
Funny this came up when it did!
I don't want to pay for my medical record, so I just decided last week that when I go in next, and I'm taken to a room and they put my medical chart at the door, that I was going to grab it and have a good read while I wait!
And O/T, but I had a childhood doctor with serious problems.
I had to pay $1 a page last time for copying fees.
I will check out the law now.
