Do you agree with Carter?

Former president Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that he believes race is at the core of much of the opposition to President Obama.
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American," Carter told NBC in an interview. "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shared the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans"
Continued Carter: "And that racism inclination still exists. . . . It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply."
The 39th president also predicted that Obama will be able to "triumph over the racist attitude that is the basis for the negative environment that we see so vividly demonstrated in public affairs in recent days."
See the following videos. I've never heard so much ignorance. Most don't appear to know why or what they're protesting & can't back-up the 'catch phrases' they're parroting. These people vote! Now that's scary.....

I listened to the interviews from the one YouTube link. IMHO, it's not racism we're seeing or hearing; it's ignorance. Rampant ignorance. Lack of critical thinking. Emotional hype. Add that to the overt religiosity and parroting of Glenn Beck talking points.
Kinda sad. If they had their facts straight and seemed less emotional, they could be a potent expression of free speech at its best. As it is, the masses look like the dregs of the barrel, the lunatic fringes, mouthing little which resembles reality or rational thought.
Racism might be a factor but it's not the most significant one.
Jabberwocka
You are so right about the ignorance, the parroting, and the emotional hype.
I spend a good deal of time on Topix, where the conversations go from mildly ignorant to wildly insane. You get a true flavor of people because they aren't monitored or censored so they say what they truly feel. Trolls aside, there's a kind of frightening smell in the air. It's people who are so resentful of Obama winning the election that they can't even think clearly. It's more than just sour grapes; it's unadulterated hate.
I guess now we are just supposed to happily nod and agree with all policy for the next 4 years so as not to be considered racist.
