Do you agree with Carter?

Former president Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that he believes race is at the core of much of the opposition to President Obama.
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American," Carter told NBC in an interview. "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shared the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans"
Continued Carter: "And that racism inclination still exists. . . . It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply."
The 39th president also predicted that Obama will be able to "triumph over the racist attitude that is the basis for the negative environment that we see so vividly demonstrated in public affairs in recent days."
See the following videos. I've never heard so much ignorance. Most don't appear to know why or what they're protesting & can't back-up the 'catch phrases' they're parroting. These people vote! Now that's scary.....

Would you say that if suddenly, and totally out of the blue, you and yours lost your job, and the health insurance that came with it??
Many folks have had to endure this terrible fate through no fault of their own. Do we not have any compassion for those less "lucky" than you or I?? Do we simply let the strongest survive, and ignore the less fortunate? What kind of society does that to its people I ask you?
The health care fairy evidently has been kind to you.......you should feel blessed that it has been. What you're inferring is that through hard work, people get what they deserve......inexpensive health care.......and those lazy bums who don't work hard should get nothing. Have you ever known someone who was a hard worker that lost that health care? I have, and it's very sad to see.
"Would you say that if suddenly, and totally out of the blue, you and yours lost your job, and the health insurance that came with it??"
That happened to me about 10 years ago. I had to pay for COBRA. When my COBRA eligibility ended I said I will never again be dependent upon an employer for health insurance. I enrolled in a plan and now pay directly to the company.
"The health care fairy evidently has been kind to you.......you should feel blessed that it has been."
No, because there is no health care fairy, and no it wasn't kind to me. When I lost my job I had to enroll in and pay for COBRA. I then had to look for health insurance (the sales people generally don't magically appear on your doorstep) and I continue to pay monthly premiums. In other words, it costs me money.
"What you're inferring is that through hard work, people get what they deserve......inexpensive health care......."
You must be really rich if you think $1300 per month premiums are inexpensive.

Have been there, done that. I don't recall too many people shedding tears.

I'm sorry you had to go that route.....I have never had to. Totally lucky, for sure.

Instead of taking your experience and using it in ways to help others so that THEY shouldn't have to go through what you did, you instead wish the same difficulties and feelings of aloneness on them that you felt. That's kind of hostile and unfeeling, don't you think?"
Some people shouldn't quit their days jobs in hopes of landing employment as psychoanalysts.
It is those hard times we face in life that give us the option of growing bitter or better.

It beat the alternative .... being uninsured. Got pregnant not too long afterwards, high-risk pregnancy. Twins were premature; their bills alone would have cost us our house.

Glad to hear that. You make a good point, all these people already have the means to help the uninsured; they could go out and purchase them policies or pay for their COBRA right now.
