Do you agree with Carter?

Former president Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that he believes race is at the core of much of the opposition to President Obama.
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American," Carter told NBC in an interview. "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shared the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans"
Continued Carter: "And that racism inclination still exists. . . . It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply."
The 39th president also predicted that Obama will be able to "triumph over the racist attitude that is the basis for the negative environment that we see so vividly demonstrated in public affairs in recent days."
See the following videos. I've never heard so much ignorance. Most don't appear to know why or what they're protesting & can't back-up the 'catch phrases' they're parroting. These people vote! Now that's scary.....

And you can bet, as soon as a health issue became a PUBLIC health issue, like something that could become a pandemic, they'd expect the government to step in and DO something. But sick people don't perform as well at school and work. They aren't as productive overall, wether they become a burden or not, they don't tend to BENEFIT society as much either.
My county is on red alert for fire danger right now. I'd be kind of interested in seeing the tea baggers having their own, private fire departments, that are the only agency they could call in case of fire. Just don't see that happening though.
I always wonder if these people have ever traveld in second and third world countries, where the roads stop when you get outside the city limits and you need a 4 wd and a machete to get through and you see really sick and deformed people laying in doorways?
OK. I agree that the signs do show a subgroup with a willingness to use race as basis for disparagement. No need for you to eat your hat! But there are also people who were protesting or criticizing Obama

I didn't want government-run healthcare when President Clinton attempted to pass it.
I don't want it any more now that BO is pushing it.
If I didn't disapprove of it just as strongly with BO in the White House wouldn't that be a form of racism?
Good points. Feed the beast, it will grow.
Wilson is going to be the darling of a certain group. Depending on how much political heft they wield, he may decide it's worthwhile to play to them.
Used to be the evangelical conservatives who were wooed. Now the closet racists? Perhaps. But I still don't think that Jimmy is right to use the adjective "overwhelming". Don't cry "monster" until you're darn sure that big furry beast is actually gnashing its teeth; or you cheapen the threat and inoculate people against responding with outrage when it's truly appropriate.
Last but not least, bigots can be found in all shapes, sizes, ages, and colors.
