Couple Sues Wal-Mart

I saw this on Good Morning America this morning. I think Wal-Mart should have their pants sued off of them! This is ridiculous. Think twice before taking any cute half nude pictures of your children and taking them some place to be developed. None of the pictures shown were child porn. Stupid Wal-Mart!

"At the same time, these departments are understaffed and social workers are working overtime to get what they can done. It's a no-win situation."'

No excuse for ruining a family's reputation and lives. :( I can't cavalierly "excuse" gov't bullying run amok, or living in a police state with stores judging whether to pass on my photos to the police!

I think it's a sign of the times, invasiveness into private lives. We took bathtub pix of our DD when she was small, too. And got those photos developed as in those days no digital cameras, computer, etc. We used 35 mm film and had it developed and prints made at the local drug store. No paranoid clerk there passing our photos on to the cops! Good grief! We are approaching a spying police state with guilty until proven innocent, having retail businesses functioning as spies, and dragging one's name and reputation through the mud with no proof whatsoever. UGH!

I think it's hilarious people have the technology to print their own photos, and still waste their $$$ having prints made elsewhere. We didn't buy a digital camera so we would still have to pay others to print our pix!!! And our printer didn't cost an arm and a leg, either. I can write family letters and send photos or print them right in the letter. I guess people don't mind spending the extra $$$. I can scan old photos now, too, so I wouldn't have to subject my private life and photos to Walmart or any other place for judgement and turning into the cops if they decide they don't like what they see, have too much smut in their own minds or whatever.

***"I heard (I think it was on CNN) description of a couple photos of two forils completely naked on the bed (supposedly) posing erotically and then hugging each other naked. I just am not seeing why people are blaming WalMart and the clerk. That is playing loose with the facts."***

Do you have a link for CNN? I tried to find something, that the kids were posed erotically, and couldn't find even the original story about the lawsuit.

We have a digital camera, and we do print our own. If the couple had their pictures on a memory stick, they probably had a digital camera. Actually, you can operate the photo maker yourself at Walmart I believe, I know you can at CVS.

I said in another post, I know people who have been contacted by Child Protective Services over issues and the children weren't automatically taken away from the authorities. I think there is more from about the story than we're hearing.

I don't think it's a matter of a paranoid clerk passing pictures on. You ARE asking them to make a judgement of when to pass pictures to police. I'd rather them not make any judgements, pass all naked pictures to the police and let the law enforcement handle it. What if the clerk hadn't passed on real child pornography? There would be a major uproar then, too. As I asked before, w/out answer, what limit would you put on a clerk, possibly a young kid, on when to pass on photos? At his/her discretion? Two kids in a bathtub? Two kids in the bathtub kissing on the cheeks? On the lips? Patting each other on the back? What is your definition of pornography vs. someone else's? I don't want it to be the clerk's definition. Pass it on the authorities and let them decide, even if it means you'll be ridiculed for being paranoid.

Yes, we don't have the facts to determine what happened when we only hear from the family. I don't think name calling the clerk serves any purpose w/out having facts, speaking of dragging people's name through the mud haphazardly.

One fact we do have is that WalMart clerks don't make decisions to remove children from the home; something some seem to be forgetting or are unaware of.

City: Nude pics raised red flags

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/2009/09/19/20090919walmart0919.html

Peoria is defending its investigation of a couple who temporarily lost custody of their daughters after taking nude photographs of the girls.

Lisa and Anthony "A.J." Demaree are now suing Walmart, the city and the state over the incident, which began when a Walmart photo clerk found eight photos with nude images of the children among a group of 144 family photographs dropped off for developing.

Peoria police were called, and, after viewing the photos, launched an investigation.

"The fact is: When we are contacted about children who may be at risk, we investigate," said a statement issued Friday by the city. "This is what we should do."

The parents' three young daughters were taken from their home for more than a month while the state investigated the couple for possible child sexual exploitation.

The Demarees, who held a news conference on Friday, insist that the photographs were simply innocent bath- and playtime snapshots of the girls, who ranged in age from 1

Found this article this morning, displaying one of the suspected "porno" pix, so-called, by the idiots at Walmart and the gov't:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfmoms/detail?entry_id=48024

Yeah, right, idiots! Oh, yeah, "more than meets the eye." Like, ummm, innocent bath pictures, maybe?! (shaking head)

Police state and spies everywhere... Ruining innocent lives with impunity... Guilty until proven innocent...
