so give Chicago the Olympic Games.
"We need all of our children to be exposed to the Olympic ideals that athletes from around the world represent, particularly this time in our nation’s history, where athletics is becoming more of a fleeting opportunity. Funds dry up so it becomes harder for kids to engage in sports, to learn how to swim, to even ride a bike. When we’re seeing rates of childhood obesity increase, it is so important for us to raise up the platform of fitness and competition and fair play; to teach kids to cheer on the victors and empathize with those in defeat, but most importantly, to recognize that all the hard work that is required to do something special."

"Talk remains cheap."
Yes. Still waiting for proof.
It's called spite. They will all jump up and down at any thing the Obama's try to do, then fail. I just pray that the children are doing great in school. Or we will have a whole thread about their awful grades.
Reminds me of the saying; Cutting off one's nose to spite their face!
I can't say that I blame the Olympic Board. The way foreigners are treated here. The problems with past Olympic's here. Gangs, crime.
The decision was probably made long before this trip.
I can't wait to see the breath taking views from Rio.
While I kind of felt sorry for Chicago, I was thrilled for Brazil.

I'm sure the bombing in Centennial Park here in Atlanta resonates through the Olympic Committee when it is deciding on locations.
Well, given that the IOC was impressed with her speech, that remains to be seen without any backing. Do you have any proof that the IOC considered the poorly run Chicago marathon in its decision? Or is that also another speculation.
I found George Will's column in the whole matter much better thought out than these baseless speculations. Personalized stories don't sell the Olympics nearly as well as what the country can do for the Olympics. Ask not what the Olympics can do for your country, ask what your country can do for the Olympics.
