Troubling portrait emerges of Fort Hood suspectBy BRETT J. BLACKLEDGE, Associated Press Writer Brett J. Blackledge, Associated Press Writer – 19 mins ago
WASHINGTON – His name appears on radical Internet postings. A fellow officer says he fought his deployment to Iraq and argued with soldiers who supported U.S. wars. He required counseling as a medical student because of problems with patients.
At least six months ago, Hasan came to the attention of law enforcement officials because of Internet postings about suicide bombings and other threats, including posts that equated suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save the lives of their comrades.

Why wasn't he investigated thoroughly about these internet posting? Could this tragedy have been avoided?

I found this senseless act to be so disturbing. To all those loved ones of the soldiers who were killed or maimed by this lunatic, I pray for each and every one of you. This could, and should, have been prevented once the warning signs were evident months prior to this. God bless them all. All they were doing was preparing to keep our country safe from terrorists like the one who snuffed their lives out. They deserved far better than that.
I, for one, will spend a little extra time this coming Veteran's Day to thank them for sacrificing their very existence in order to serve our country as honorable men and women. Salute!
This is a truly horrific event in US history.

May he also have the face of the one who put him there burned into his brain forever.

(FORT HOOD, Texas) — A Muslim leader says the Army psychiatrist suspected of going on a shooting rampage at Fort Hood asked him for advice on what he should tell soldiers who had concerns about going to fight Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Osman Danquah is the co-founder of the Islamic Community of Greater Killeen. He says he had a bad feeling about Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan after the two talked twice in late summer.
He told The Associated Press on Saturday that Hasan regularly attended services at the mosque in his uniform.
Danquah says Hasan never mentioned any anger toward the Army or indicated any plans for violence but seemed incoherent during their second conversation.
Danquah says he told Hasan that there was "something wrong with you."
Sure appears that the army missed obvious clues to this man's lack of suitabilty
