I just read this and wondered what your thought might be.

Neo-Nazi in murder trial gets makeover for trial
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – John Allen Ditullio is a walking billboard for the neo-Nazi movement: a large 6-inch swastika tattooed under his right ear, barbed wire inked down the right side of his face, and an extreme and very personal vulgarity scrawled on one side of his neck.

Jurors will never see any of it. A judge has ruled that the state must pay a cosmetologist up to $150 a day during Ditullio's trial on murder and attempted murder charges and apply makeup to cover up the black ink. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091209/ap_on_re_us/us_tattoo_coverup

As Michael Siegel, professor of law at the University of Florida pointed out, "The defendant did initially make the choice to communicate to the world through the tattoos on his body, Now he's asking for protection from his own decisions." Siegel goes on to say he believes the judge was trying to be "conservative" in his judgment in case the trial results are appealed.

Do you think the judge is being fair or overly cautious?

We had a case here were the person on trial had a racial slur tattooed on their neck. They also had an allegiance to a certain group on their neck. Many other tattoo's on their face. They were on trial for drag racing on a main highway that killed 2 people and severely injured another. He went to prison. Tried to blame the wreck on his dead father that he killed! His tat's weren't covered up.

Forgot to add: If someone is crazy enough to have such offensive tattoo's in plain view that they should bee seen by a jury.

This guy is an idiot. He got these things AFTER his arrest for murder?!? Now his attorney wants them covered because they might be predjudicial. I feel sorry for the lawyer who has to represent such a complete moron. How many brain celsl does this guy have, to think its' a smart idea to get swastikas and barbed wire tatooed on his FACE while he awaits a murder trial? I don't think they should be covered. It shows the type of individual he is. Obviously not one with any sense of caution, remorse, self evaluation.... Just show a picture of him when he was arrested and tell the jury to disregard his new body art.

Having those despicable tat's covered is much cheaper than retrying the case later. If I were on a jury seeing those tat's would prejudice my opinion.

Having been through a few personal experiences in court, I've come to the realization that it's nothing more than a game of lies and deception. It's all about which attorney can deceive the jury or judge the best.

I first got a taste of our court system when I was 15 years old (1973).

I can totally relate to your experiences; I was slapped with the reality of the "on stage performance" during the trial of my brother's killer years ago. Sitting through the ordeal at 27 was extremely hard; I was only able to hold it together because my mom needed me. Thankfully though, the jury in this case saw through the smoke screen thrown up by the defense and he was convicted. But the drama and theatrics took a major toll on my mom.

As to the karma ending in your experience... wow! Life can indeed be a harsh teacher.

this disgusts me! they pay all that money for his dumb makeup and when i went to court to fight a traffic ticket (along with over 200 people against the same cop) they practically laughed at us and treated up like crap. and there were people dressed in nice suits and people in jeans.

tattoos are everywhere- get used to it. and with commissary bull, to pay that much money for something like that is ridiculous. and he's a MURDERER! nothing this nice has ever been done for abused children or rape victims- i'm infuriated!!! enough that i'm tempted to write that judge pand tell him what i think. anyone with me?

if it's such a big deal, wear a turtleneck and have the lawyer give the guy some covergirl concealer and powder for his face. $15 max to solve the problem.
