Yeah, I read his transcript yesterday. I lump him in with Robertson and the like. What's really discouraging are the numbers of people who listen to those guys and believe everything bit of nasty garbage that comes out of their mouths.

If anyone can recognize a personal agenda it would have to be Rush. He has a lot of experience in this area.

The appeal of Rush and his illegitimate son, Hannity, is that they feed an addiction for their listeners.

I refuse to be taken in so easily. I'm not going to be led around by a few one-sided, overly-paid,

We were watching tv yesterday and this morning, seeing the horrific images of the dead and wounded in the aftermath of Haiti's quake. What we noticed right away, was most of the cable news channels were focused on the tragedy, while FOX "News" (and I use the term loosely) was just more politics. No news, just more of the same trash talk. Apparently FOX does not consider the quake in Haiti to be "newsworthy".

I am not sure what you are talking about...it was ALL over Fox news.

Seriously, if you actually WATCHED Fox News...you would know that they did cover the story in great detail. Do you want more links? Or is this enough? I found these in about 2 seconds. There are many more for your reading and listening pleasure, if you would like. ;-)

Nice try. ;-)

I don't doubt that they've covered it quite a bit.

As an aside, I was surprised re: this from Steve Harrigan re: Haitians waiting and checking as a large building is being excavated (and thus far only those dead had been removed):

"it seems like a show at this point... if you're not waiting for someone to be rescued, it seems only the spectacle of death that is locking this several hundred people here to watch..."

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/01/the-horror.html

Maybe in the chaos, etc., it hadn't occurred to him that the people in that building would have loved ones waiting and hoping and worried. Not everyone could just walk away if they had a child or spouse or sibling, for ex. remaining in that rubble (be they probably dead or not). After all, why would Haitians differ in that regard from the rest of us?

That said, his compassion and concern for Haitians is certainly well evident.

Speaking on his radio show Wednesday, Limbaugh said the earthquake has played into Obama’s hands, allowing the president to look “compassionate” and “humanitarian” while at the same time bolstering his standing in both the “light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country.”

He added: “We've already donated to Haiti. It’s called the U.S. income tax.”

Limbaugh’s comments were, in part, a riff on Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) much publicized remark in a new book that Obama was able to win the election because he is “light-skinned” and lacks a “Negro dialect.”

But regardless of the intended context, Limbaugh’s comments have been widely panned.

“They are deeply insensitive,” said conservative commentator Pat Buchanan on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“The president speaks for the country when he says we’re going to go in there,” he said. “You want your whole nation, and it’s very positive. And I think Rush’s comments were cynical.”

Sitting next to Buchanan on set, host Joe Scarborough called Limbaugh’s comments “deplorable.”

“The insensitivity is stunning,” said the former Republican congressman.

Liberal commentators also quickly jumped on Limbaugh.

“Limbaugh did not know when to just shut up,” said liberal commentator Keith Olbermann on his MSNBC show “Countdown.” “Today he blamed communism for the poverty of Haiti, blamed President Obama for holding a news conference the day after this cataclysm when he did not hold one after the failed half-assed terror attempt in Detroit.”

Yeah, that must be it because I was watching Fox News and CNN at the same time at the gym yesterday. Fox News - no quake stories. CNN - talking about Obama's speech and bank charges, then quake stories.
