Regarding the disaster in Haiti-- why isn't emergency food, water and basic medical being parachuted in to the people  until it can be more properly distributed? --- This has been done in other countries and the air craft need not even land.

((She does realize that Haiti is an independent country and not one of our United States doesn't she?))

Yes, thank you....she does.

Perhaps, in the future, if you have a question for her, you should ask her directly. ;-)

My 'conversation' was with the poster to whom I posted. That is still my choice, is it not?

I agree. There is no good end to this, the only hope is to make it not as bad as it might be. Every new story is more heartbreaking than the last.

The world distinguishes between act of the American people and acts the American government. I think the world sees American people in a far better light than they did in the American government that started the unfounded war in Iraq, etc. After 9/11, the world saw America favorably, though that quickly changed. Countries, like Iraq, might tell us to butt out when they don't need help for good reason. Similarly, I love that the police are there to help me when I need it but please don't break into my house when I don't.

Personally, I believe helping others is about them. If someone wants to bash people who help, so be it (kind of like Obama being bashed for sending a bipartisan team to help Haiti). It's not always about you. The general "you", not the specific "you."

Where I agree with most of what you said in your post, is it not the American government sending it's military, money, time, and supplies over to Haiti to help those people?

Yes, it is helping. I asked my friends when I was in England, why they were so ready to overlook what happened in the USSR (existed at the time) but slammed the US when they didn't agree. They agreed that it was due to higher expectations, fairly or not. Fairly or unfairly, I think it's better to fall short with higher expectations than meet very low ones.

How would they get there? The thing is Haiti could be a beautiful location but is so screwed up by the government. If anything, this opens the eyes of the world who can finally see how bad things are there, even without the earthquake. The Haitians were suffering to begin with.

Sorry, anything coming from Olberman is hardly "proof". Olbermann spewed his hatred for Bush like hot lava out of a volcano. I can't really trust him as reliable source.
