Former presidential candidate John Edwards abandoned his long denial that he had fathered a child during an affair with a campaign aide and admitted today that he is the father of the almost 2-year-old girl.
"I am Quinn's father," Edwards said in the bombshell statement this morning. "I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves.
The former senator and presidential hopeful had an affair with campaign cinematographer Rielle Hunter, 42, and she later give birth to Frances Quinn.

Gotta give him some points for owning up to it now. Just sad that his child might one day read that he denied her. It's not like this stuff doesn't happen all the time, but it still must be hard on his wife and his first family.
Not that I condone adultery at all, but why didn't he wear a condom? What was he thinking?
Gotta give him some points for owning up to it now.
No points from me.
<<<<I just did a little research.
I can't get into gossip news. It's too voyeuristic for me. I avoid tabloids altogether and it really insults me when this kind of trash makes national news and I can't flip a channel or turn a newspaper page without it being rammed down my throat.
Why does anyone
Different strokes for different folks itzee.
I tend to read and follow the "hard" news as much as anyone. I read the Wall Street Journal daily, the USA Today Monday thru Friday, our local paper 7 days a week, and watch cable news nightly to stay on top of any and all breaking news. I also enjoy a good book every chance I get. The tabloids are a sometimes comic relief for me, and I have zero problem reading some trash about so and so. Doesn't mean I believe all that is printed, but if it gives me some enjoyment, then I'm going to take advantage of it.
Your analogy about Edwards' kid vs the babies in Haiti seems a bit harsh. Of course we all feel badly that so many little ones are going through such misery and hardship right now. Other than generously giving to the Red Cross (which is what my family elected to do), there's not a whole lot we can do to ease their grief. I can read about Edwards' trials and tribulations and still have concern about the Haitians can't I?
You also are generalizing and grouping all celebrities into the same class. There are some very good, generous actors and performers who have done heroic deeds during their lives. Not all of them are all about me, me, me, as you say.
What about the babies in Haiti?
What about the 84 nursing home patients left for the flies and rats to eat?
