Focus on the Family Super Bowl ad

And email I received from Care2.  I will boycott the Super Bowl should they show Focus on the Family's ad.  I'm very disappointed in CBS.

In the past, CBS has denied other organizations, like MoveOn.org and United Church of Christ, the chance to get their word out during the Superbowl because the network considered their messages to be too controversial. But it seems its definition of "controversial" has changed. CBS approved an ad by the ultra-conservative group Focus on the Family, attacking a woman's right to choose.

Demand that CBS pull this controversial and disrespectful ad from the Superbowl line-up >>

The Superbowl is the most-watched television program in the country -- a prime opportunity for anti-choice groups to broadcast their idea that a woman doesn't have the right to make decisions about her own body. What's worse is CBS has no plans to run a pro-choice ad to balance both sides of the issue.

CBS's decision to run the anti-choice ad is biased, unfair and unethical. Tell CBS to cancel the Superbowl ad from Focus on the Family >>

Thanks for taking action!

Just paying for an ad doesn't mean it's an appropriate venue for it. This does make for interesting bedfellows--conservative family values supporting the Superbowl where scantily clad women, tons of alcohol ads all reign supreme. But, as the miracle of life offending women, it would be like the KKK showing a perfect neighborhood of all white children playing happily and when someone complained, having them say, "Why are people offended by little children playing? What a sad world we live in when people are offended by little children." There's an underlying message to both ads.

I'm not going to sign the petition because I don't care when they show the commercial.

Thank you for sharing that. I'm going to pass it on. The appeal to Prop 8 is going on right now in California.

FOF was a HUGE contributor in the campaign for Prop 8. Why an outfit, based in another state, had such a vested interest in California law, is beyond me. Plus, after donating tons of $$ to keep gay FAMILIES from being able to marry, they had to lay off employees. Guess their employees families, well being, doesen't count for much. You'd think if "families" really mattered to them, they'd put their energy towards preventing divorce. Instead of making the children of gays and lesbians out to be part of a defective unit, you think

This is very interesting. I doubt it'll motivate conservative Christians to rethink their so-called values, but it validates why I've removed myself from the Christian organization (notice how I did not call
