ISLAMABAD, Pakistan â€” A Pakistani passenger plane crashed atop the hills near the capital Islamabad amid heavy fog and intense rainfall on Wednesday morning, killing all 152 people on board, according to civil aviation and airline officials.
Rescue helicopters fought against thick smoke and flames as they tried to find survivors in the hilltop crash site, but hours after the crash, Pakistani officials said that none of the 146 passengers or six crew members had survived. AAJ TV reported that 80 bodies, many badly burned or mutilated, had been recovered by mid afternoon.
Officials also said that cockpit recorders and the bodies of the pilots had been recovered from the wreckage, which was strewn for about 400 yards atop the Margalla Hills. . More......
