With all the attention given to the Ten Commandments monument, there's something else going on in Alabama that's more important. The simple fact of the matter is that the state is broke and Alabama's Republican governor is attempting to fix it with a proposal that would increase property taxes on large landowners. The ironic thing about this is that Alabama's largest farm organization who supported Gov. Riley and used questionable tactics that helped elect him is going all out to defeat the Sept. 9th referendum. The Farm organization in question is tied in with the state's largest insurance company and it's CEO is a multimillionaire farmer who thought Riley would be a puppet governor for his special interests. This clown is really a trip. He's a hokey character who looks and sounds like he could have been one of the cast of "He Haw". The truth is he's received millions in farm subsidies and rides around the country in a multi million dollar Lear Jet, while claiming to be for the little guy. Can we spell hypocrite?

You'd better be careful! So called farm programs are like Social Security. It's a sacred cow and no matter how many millions are paid out to millionaire farmers in the form of farm subsidies is something that no politician, Democrat or Republican is likely to mess with. Alabama's governor is committing political suicide.
