<(and if he was so extraordinarily prescient he might have considered getting in touch with capital police and finding out about their alert level and discussing evacuations since he is such a natural born leader, after all).>

2 planes crashed in New York, not the capital at that time. No one was even thinking that they would intend to target the capital. If they did, dont you think the Pentagon would have fully evacuated with in that time? But they didn't, becuase no one knew anything. So why would Kerry or anyone else think of evacuating what they thought was a safe place? Everyone was focused on New York.

Who wasn't? From what I gathered there was much confusion for Bush and Cheney also, and they were the ones in charge. Looking in in hindsight, many things could have been done different. In the end it was the responsibility of the President to do something, not wait for 7 minutes after the fact.

8:46 the first plane struck, the second plane struck at 9:03 a.m. At 9:37 am a third plane struck the Pentagon. At 10:03 the fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania. So you tell me, what should have John Kerry did? The question should be, why didnt Bush do more and how could he wait for 7 minutes? He just sat there in that classroom doing nothing, but smiling.

Oh GOD, this is probably the worst thing I have ever lived through, and even talking about it is making me cry as I type. I do not think I could ever forgive Bush for doing nothing in those first minutes. I am sorry when my son gets hurt, I do not wait to finish what it is I am doing to help him or to see what is wrong, I immediately go. I don't have to, but I care about my son. If Bush cared about his country as he claims he does, he would have not just sat there. Whether or not anyone believed it was a terrorist attack or an accident, still there would be many deaths in a huge city. This is not something that happens everyday, a plane crashing into the worlds tallest building, don't you think it would merit at least some sort of concern on the part of the president?

I am sure many here will attack me for my personal view, and I really do not give a rat's butt about it. He just sat there and did nothing. As a mother if I sat there and did nothing if my son was choking, I would go to jail. I would be shown as an uncaring mother becuase for 7 minutes I did nothing. When we needed this man to be our leader he sat in a room. When we needed this man to do something, he wasted time doing nothing. But yet, people do not talk about this but the fact that a senator does nothing.

A sidenote**** It was Guiliani not Bush that made Man of the Year, what does that have to say about being a great leader?

You know, I just re-read the direct quote of what Kerry said and realized that the spin on your initial presentation of it colored my reading:

KERRY: I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting -- we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation.

He's saying that they sat down to their meeting, but "realized nobody could think" about the meeting because their minds were on the attacks. Then the Pentagon was hit and they evacuated.

What's interesting is that by going for the uttery ridiculous argument that Kerry sat there in a stupor for 40 minutes, the Republican attack dogs have missed a more subtle (dare I say...nuanced?) point they could have made. If they were smart, instead of just mean, they would have pointed out that Kerry, Daschle, and the others attempted to carry on with their normal schedule after learning of both attacks on New York, just as the President did. Oh well. Maybe that will teach y'all not to go for the jugular all the time.

(Just for the record, I'd still say that as President, Bush had a slew of responsibilities he should have attended to immediately. The Democratic leadership did not.)

I keep seeing people state that Bush "just sat there and kept reading MY PET GOAT. Actually, if you took the time to see the movie, you would know it was a little different. The agent came in & whispered in Bush's ear, Bush sat there with nothing in his hands, looking around, and ONLY THEN did he pick up the book, MY PET GOAT.

How can people make good decisions by intentionally restricting the information they receive?

Oh yeah, I feel real secure knowing that when we get attacked, my president will decide to pick up MY PET GOAT.

Even Joe Scarborough will sleep well when Kerry is president.

I'll take Kerry over that kind of "leadership".

You take what you want, you believe what you want. It's that simple. You will defend the actions, no matter how unconscionable of this administration no matter what. I do not believe a word you say or a link you send so don't bother. Joseph wilson had no agenda. Bush did. It's really that simple. Bush did not listen to the people he sent to find answers for him. He had no intention of listening to them.

If Joe Wilson had donated his book profits to charity you may have a point. Since he didn't, I was say he has a pretty strong motive to get on the lucrative Bush Bashing bandwagon.

I knew you weren't reading the information that was posted for you. Who's head is in the sand?
