What is your favorite Bushism, and how important do you think it is that our elected officials be eloquent? I for one feel passionately that they need to be able to speak in public. Perhaps the reason Bush holds so few press conferences is that he sounds so daft.
I think someone who had such a priveleged upbringing, and an expensive education ought to have some knowledge of proper grammar, sentence structure, and pronunciation. I can agree that poor grammar might not reflect intellect when a person is raised in gramatically challenged surroundings, but Mr. President was not, and because of that, I think it DOES reflect his intellect and ability to grasp simple concepts.

My favorite bushism, "Is our children learning", followed by a close but pertinent second,

My favorite Bushism:
"First, let me make it very clear, poor people aren't necessarily killers. Just because you happen to be not rich doesn't mean you're willing to kill."
Another Bush Quote: "Some call you the Elite, I call you my Base"

You are right about the who and not the that, though, so thanks.
and I mean NO english at all.
NO offense taken.
(but I am not trying for the presidency either ;)
Point taken, and I am glad you are not offended, I'm just trying to make the point that language errors made in haste and out of what I like to call "brain not completely attached to tongue" syndrome are not necessarily indicative of intelligence. I certainly wish Bush was a far better public speaker, I just don't think his intellect ought to be judged on his public speaking skills.
It's not his ineptitude with the language that I don't like, it's his inability to answer questions off the cuff.

As far as Bushisms go, I think this one was more of a Freudian slip....

I never understood why he was cosidered the winner in the debates 4 years ago. I guess people were taken in by the "Good ole boy" "Cowboy" jargin instead of listening to the what was being said. I always felt I was watching a different debate then those who were talking him up as the winner.

No offense but she is NOT the President of the United States! She is not the one out there representing the United States. She is not the one making decisions for the people of the United States. We have a right to expect the President of the United States to use perfect grammar.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Some of the people on this board act as if he is "really" intelligent but has poor speaking skills. HELLO?!?! He was an average student. Period.
