Where is your oldest going to college? MSU?...K-State?...KU?...? =)

Back to your question. My 14 yr. old daughter's favorite places are the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Crown Center (Hallmark Visitor Center), Country Club Plaza, Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun, the Kansas City Renaissance Festival (9/4-10/17) and Powell Gardens. The amusement parks(WOF & OOF) are rather pricey.

There's 18th & Vine which has a Jazz Museum & Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. There's the Liberty Memorial Museum (WWI Memorial), Truman Library (Independence, MO), Arabia Steamboat Museum

Near Kansas City to the North is Ft. Leavenworth (Frontier Army Museum) & Atchison (Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum), to the West is Lawrence (KU Natural History Museum, Site of battle between free state KS & Slave state MO soldiers in the Civil War)

Here is a website to check out:

http://www.experiencekc.com/

There is a travel information center and is near I-35 as you come to Kansas City from Olathe. With free road maps of Kansas, and lots of free information about every city and activity in Kansas.

Hope this helps. There's more to do & see than time allows for you. Enjoy! Best wishes to the new college student!

Sandy

She is going to K-State. I can't believe my baby (she hates when I say that, especially being the oldest) is heading off to college. Thanks for the information and the link.

I ended up ordering the book for slightly more ($23.63 incl. s/h) from National Review. http://www.nrbookservice.com/bookpage.asp?prod_cd=c6527

There was no indication of a delay in shipping after the book comes out on Aug. 10th (shipping-about 10 business days, US) and hopefully there'll be no notice of a delay later on to me. I'm holding my breath. I'm looking forward to reading it, too!

Curious. Amazon told me the book would arrive between Sept 7th & 27th and from what you had said about the Oct. date they gave you, I went to another website. No problem. My main concern, as is yours, is to get it in a timely fashion.
