Would you attend the RNC?

My mom is a delegate, and I have to admit that I'm a little nervous about her (and my father) attending the RNC at the end of August. I know that it hasn't curbed her enthusiasm, but I definitley would have to give it some serious thought if it were me. Just curious, would you go, even with all the terror threats? Or for my democrat counterparts, would you to the DNC (even though I think terrorists have more of a reason to attack Reps)?

How friggin' dare you? That's the most asinine, ugly, uninformed, unAmerican post I've ever read. Because Democrats are opposed to the Bush administration (in an ELECTION... we're not trying to kill him) does not mean we're on the same side as terrorists. You need to apologize immediately to all Democrats, especially those who have family fighting in Aghanistan, or who have lost loved ones on September 11th. You should really be ashamed of that statement. It's a downright fascist to lump political rivals in with enemies of the state.

If Osama Bin Laden ever met G.W. Bush, he would shake his hand and thank him for handing Al Qaeda the best recruiting tool they could ever dream of, and hastening his goals for global jihad.

Could you please explain that how the terrorists and the Dems are on the same side? What a totally irresponsible thing to say.

Actually, there are already more police in New York City than fighting the war in Afghanistan. It has nothing to do with convention security. It has to do with how few forces we committed to Afghanistan because the Bush administration was saving them for the Iraq buildup.

from The Other War: Why Bush's Afghanistan Problems Won't Go Away by Seymour M. Hersh

4/12/04

"Clarke told me in an interview last week that the Administration viewed Afghanistan as a military and political backwater—a detour along the road to Iraq, the war that mattered most to the President. Clarke and some of his colleagues, he said, had repeatedly warned the national-security leadership that, as he put it, “you can’t win the war in Afghanistan with such a small effort.” Clarke continued, “There were more cops in New York City than soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan. We had to have a security presence coupled with a development program in every region and stay there for several months.”

In retrospect, Clarke said, he believes that the President and his men did not respond for three reasons: “One, they did not want to get involved in Afghanistan like Russia did. Two, they were saving forces for the war in Iraq. And, three, Rumsfeld wanted to have a laboratory to prove his theory about the ability of small numbers of ground troops, coupled with airpower, to win decisive battles.” As of today, Clarke said, “the U.S. has succeeded in stabilizing only two or three cities. The President of Afghanistan is just the mayor of Kabul.”

I love the Rumsfeld quote about security in Afghanistan: "“There are people who are throwing hand grenades and shooting off rockets and trying to kill people, but there are people who are trying to kill people in New York or San Francisco" So if you're attending the RNC in New York, and someone throws a grenade at you, stop and think to yourself "Rummy was right! Afghanistan's doing pretty well overall."

The enemy of my enemy is not my friend. That's a really hateful thing you said.

Ooooh! Stepped in a mine field there…

But then again,

Privatized S.S. = pushing old people off a cliff

Welfare reform = starving poor people

Tax cuts = payoffs for the rich

Tax cuts = “subsidizing” the rich

Tort reform = favoritism for the rich

Contracting to Haliburton = Lining the administration’s pockets

Overthrowing SH and installing a new government (at our own cost) = Stealing Iraqi oil (which was really done by France, Russia, and the UN)

Everyone believed Iraq had WMD (including Kerry, Edwars, most democrats, France, Germany, and Russia) = Bush lied

Using leftist logic I would have to agree, your observation is 100% correct. But I like to think those on the right use more stringent analysis. Let the left through out these wild accusations. It just makes them look more ridiculous.

Wow. All I can say is I really hope you come back to defend that post. I can't wait to hear your rationalization for such a ridiculous comment. Are you just trying to get ppl. riled up or do you truly believe that Democrat = terrorist?
