Would you attend the RNC?
| Fri, 07-09-2004 - 10:06pm |
My mom is a delegate, and I have to admit that I'm a little nervous about her (and my father) attending the RNC at the end of August. I know that it hasn't curbed her enthusiasm, but I definitley would have to give it some serious thought if it were me. Just curious, would you go, even with all the terror threats? Or for my democrat counterparts, would you to the DNC (even though I think terrorists have more of a reason to attack Reps)?

Come, my conservative friends, what say you?>
Please, I don't see too many Dems leaping to condemn some of the horrendous and inappropriate things people have said about Republicans either, not to mention the President. In any case, I think you could take the comment two ways-one you could assume she is equating Democrats to terrorists, which most of you have assumed, two, you could realize that she is basically just saying that both the terrorists and the Democrats would very much like to see Bush thrown out of office, so in that sense they are "on the same side" if you will.
But where's all your righteous indignation for someone saying Rush forgets to wear his hood? Or calling the President the Shrub, or a fool, or a drunk or a wife beater? Or making completely baseless allegations that Bush and Cheney went to war in Iraq to profit Halliburton or to get their hands on oil? I've never seen such ugly rhetoric as that referring to our president or to Republicans in general here. It goes both ways, and I don't really see either side condemning those of the same persuasions.
No wonder you hate Democrats. You honestly believe this nonsense. This is why I'm truly worried about what will happen when John Kerry wins in November. If people really believe that the Democrats are on the side of terrorists, what WON'T they do to stop them? What actions WOULDN'T be justified to stop terrorist "appeasers" from taking control of the country? That's why I was so excited when Kerry was talking up McCain as his VP. A bipartisan ticket might have helped to drain this ridiculous, hatefull undercurrent that runs beneath "Red America". And now his attempt at pulling us all together is being used against him by the Bush campaign.
iminnie, you couldn't be more wrong. If you'd like to talk about it, I will, but I have a feeling there's no changing your mind.
There is a ridiculous hateful undercurrent running beneath both sides, if you can't see that then you just choose not to. It is really disheartening, and makes me feel quite hopeless at times that this country will ever be somewhat united or that we will ever have a government which can focus on something other than the next election. One can only hope that a new candidate will arise in the next couple of election cycles on one side or the other, one who can truly inspire respect and unity among Americans. I don't really see such a person on the horizon from either side, but maybe there's somebody out there who I'm missing.
<<"the Democrats are doing their best to change things in a way that would benefit the terrorists." >>
Um, yeah, that's what many of us believe, that things like repealing the Patriot Act and giving enemy combatents access to the

Pointing the finger back at the worst of the rhetoric from some here about FAMOUS PEOPLE, as opposed to regular people out there, does not excuse it.
I stand by my opinion. The fact that you agree with iminnie only proves the point to me and I think it is sad.

I didn't say I agree with her, I said there are different possible interpretations of what she said. Are you going to dispute that both the terrorists and many Democrats would like to see Bush leave office in humiliation disgrace? I certainly don't agree with anyone who claims that Democrats support terrorists in any way shape or form (though I do believe that some Democrats have misguided ideas that may unintentionally aid terrorists), but the fact that Bush may leave office will certainly be welcome news to both groups. I don't see how you can deny that. And I think it's sad that you see only the ugly rhetoric on one side and fail to see it on the other. Despite the fact that I always try my best to debate without personally insulting anyone I am continuously referred to as blind, ignorant, a right wing religious fanatic, greedy, etc. I don't call on all Democrats on the board to stand up and condemn the personal insults against me, I either refute them with debate points or I ignore them. There are people on both sides who go over the line, it just makes them look bad. I don't generalize that to include all people who disagree with me though, and I don't expect others to have to jump to my defense. I can defend myself perfectly well.
Let us look at different things shall we? It was brought up before but I guess I will have to do it again. Osama, Sadam, Momar, etc. have always had one universal theme--Israel. With that being said, the Democrats are no less different than the Republicans or specifically John Kerry is no different than President Bush in this area. He is also a staunch supporter of Israel even though he claims to back a 2-state solution. But by giving more to one and than to the other shows the true intentions of the United States. THAT more than anything is what really gets these terrorists infuriated and is their source of motivation. I am not saying it is right or correct, I am just saying what is a fact. That is what makes terrorists want to kill, bomb, maime, threaten you, a United States citizen. Do not yell at me for these words, I am only repeating what most people throughout the world say. I am also repeating what many United States citizens say also. To say that democrats and the terrorists are on the same side is wrong. The terrorists are going to continue attacking the United States no matter a Republican or Democrat is in office.
Another reason as not to post or come here very often is due to the fact that no one listens. Posters read but do not comprehend what another person is saying or refuse to even admit truth. This works for both sides. Also I saw it on a thread but when people post in such large font it is as though you are yelling. One time a post came on and it was so huge telling someone welcome, I felt as though as I was being punched as it just came at me! If I feel the need to be yelled at or talked down to as though I am a 3-year-old I just go to work. The difference is I get paid to be treated like that and my supervisor usually listens to what I have to say.
Some people here are nasty and mean. They try to show others how smart or educated they are but they actually show how degrading they can be. Never did I believe that people would enjoy smearing another person, but I see this place has proved me wrong. Then there are others who continually come back at anyone's opinion that is not the same as theirs, but when they feel they have been attacked say--It is my opinion and you dare attack my opinion?--
But then Minnie Mouse what do I know? After all you accused me of flying around on my carpet so I will continue doing that.
The last time anyone listened to a Bush, they were lost for 40 years! Looks like we're doomed to "wander" ano
