Mrs. John Kerry -Is this true?

" To mention just a few, they support the "Barrio Warriors," a radical
Hispanic group whose primary goal is to return all of Arizona,
California, New Mexico and Texas to Mexico..." but read on, please!
Following is a brief backround on Mrs. John Kerry . She hates being
called that, by the way:
Maria Teresa Thiersten Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry. Married Senator
Kerry in 1995. She only took his name eighteen months ago and she is an
"interesting" paradox of conflicts.
If you thought John Kerry was scary, he doesn't hold a candle to
his wife! Maria Teresa Thiersten Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry was born in
Mozambique, the daughter of a Portuguese physician, was educated in
Switzerland and South Africa. Fluent in five languages, she was working
as a United Nations interpreter in Geneva in the mid-60's when she met a
"handsome" young American, H. John Heinz, III, who worked at a bank in
Geneva. He told her his family was "in the food business."
They were married in 1966 and returned to Pittsburgh where his
family ran the giant H. J. Heinz food company. He was elected to the US
House of Representatives in 1971, and in 1976 he was elected to the
first of three terms in the United States Senate. A Republican, he wrote
a burning diatribe against some of the causes backed by young House
member John Kerry.)
Several years later, in 1991, he was killed when his plane collided
with a Sun Oil Company helicopter over a Philadelphia suburb. The
senator, his pilot and copilot, and both of Sun's helicopter pilots were
killed. He was survived by his wife, Teresa, and their three young sons.
Four years later, having inherited Heinz's $500 million fortune,
she married Senator John Forbes Kerry, the liberal then-junior senator
from Massachusetts. She became a registered Democrat and the process of
her radicalization was set in motion.
Heinz Kerry is not shy about telling people that she required Kerry
to sign a prenuptial agreement before they were married. John Kerry may
not have check writing privileges on the Heinz catsup and pickle
fortune, but he is certainly a willing and uncomplaining beneficiary of it.
A lot of hard-earned money, made through many years of hawking
catsup, mustard, and pickles has fallen into the hands of two people who
despise successful entrepreneurship and who believe in the confiscatory
redistribution of wealth.
So how does Mrs. Heinz Kerry spend John Heinz's money?
Just one example:
According to the G2 Bulletin, an online intelligence newsletter of
WorldNetDaily, in the years between 1995-2001 she gave more than $4
million to an organization called the Tides Foundation. And what does
the Tides Foundation do with John Heinz's money?
They support numerous antiwar groups, including Ramsey Clark's
International Action Center. Clark has offered to defend Saddam Hussein
when he's tried.
They support the Democratic Justice Fund, a joint venture of the
Tides Foundation and billionaire hate-monger George Soros. The
Democratic Justice Fund seeks to ease restrictions on Muslim immigration
from "terrorist" states.
They support the Council for American-Islamic Relations, whose
leaders are known to have close ties to the terrorist group, Hamas.
They support the National Lawyers Guild, organized as a communist
front during the Cold War era. One of their attorneys, Lynne Stewart,
has been arrested for helping a client, Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman,
communicate with terror cells in Egypt. He is the convicted mastermind
of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
They support the "Barrio Warriors," a radical Hispanic group whose
primary goal is to return all of Arizona, California, New Mexico, and
Texas to Mexico.
These are but a few of the radical groups that benefit, through the
anonymity provided by the Tides Foundation, from the generosity of our
would-be first lady, the wealthy widow of Republican senator John Heinz,
and now the wife of the Democratic senator who aspires to be the 44th
President of the United States.
Aiding and supporting our enemies is not good for America,
regardless of your political views.
If voters will open their eyes, educate themselves and see the real
Teresa Heinz Kerry, they will not appreciate her position as ultra rich
fairy godmother of the radical left. They will not want to imagine her
laying her head on a pillow each night inches away from the President of
the United States.
Hopefully they love this country enough to decide that the only way
these two will ever be allowed into the White House is with an engraved
invitation in hand.
Instead of deleting this, pass it on. Let everyone know these
people may be unfit to represent this great nation. The uninformed will
never hear the truth from the press, who want Kerry elected!
Those who buy the Kerry facade, beware of what you vote for - - - you
may regret what you get!

I've seen a number of interviews where Theresa Heinz Kerry has impressed me quite a lot.
On the other boards someone was discussing that the type of wife a man has tells a lot about them. Laura Bush is the quiet type behind the scenes who would not dare say anything negative to Bush. She said that she once criticized one of Bush's speeches and he drove through the garage so she never critcized him again. HOWEVER, in contrast Senator Kerry/Edward's wives were saying last night that there are times where they need to knock down John/John a peg or two if they think that aides are telling them a bunch of bull or only what they want to hear. Then they said it is equally important to be there when their ego needs boosting to tell them, "Hey, don't pay attention to that. They don't know what they are talking about. You did great!". It tells you a lot about a man's character if he is able to have a strong, confident, opinionated, intelligent woman by his side rather than someone who agrees with everything he says or does...
Will we let him continue to bully us too?
But, just in case you are REALLY interested, here's a link to the Tides Center press releases regarding recent false allegations:

Tides Foundation and Tides Center Respond to Recent Inaccuracies in the Media
Recent articles, including editorials in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post, have contained significant inaccuracies about Tides Foundation and Tides Center in the past week. These have engendered other false reports in several media outlets across the country.
Below is the formal response from Tides Foundation and Tides Center to the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post

Letters to the Editor
New York Post
To the Editor:
Your editorial on March 9 ("(Mrs.) Kerry's Cash Connection") is both factually and conceptually inaccurate. Tides Foundation, which has made four grants to Peaceful Tomorrows in 2002 and 2003 for a combined total of $34,665, has not received "millions of dollars controlled by Teresa Heinz Kerry". The Heinz Endowments have granted Tides Foundation a total of $230,000 dispensed between 1994 and 1998. These grants were to support a pollution prevention initiative and other environmentally friendly practices by industries in Western Pennsylvania.
Tides Center, an independent offshoot of Tides Foundation, provides administrative and management services to nonprofit projects across the country. Tides Center has received additional support from the Heinz Endowments specifically to support projects in Pennsylvania, none of which has gone to September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows.
The monies that our foundation distributes are actually not "fungible" as your editorial claims. The rigors of fund accounting, restricted grants, and annual audits preclude this from happening. For the Post to suggest otherwise is not only misleading, it's reckless. Each Tides Center project raises funds for their program activities and they are assured that their funds are separately accounted for and administered.
Your use of the term "charitable money-laundering" is similarly disingenuous. Tides Foundation employs donor advised funds to make grants to organizations working for positive social change. It is the same legal structure administered in precisely the same way as the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund and similar programs operated by Schwab, Vanguard, and others.
Tides Foundation and Tides Center share a commitment to a simple philosophy: We work to support change toward a healthy society. We are progressive thinkers, strengthening community-based nonprofit organizations and creating positive impact on people's lives in ways that honor and promote human rights, justice, and a sustainable environment. You may disagree with our values but you should at least get your facts straight.
Sincerely,
Drummond Pike

Letters to the Editor The Wall Street Journal
To the Editor:
Your recent editorial (The Politics of 9/11, March 10) contains errors and innuendo, including an allegation that Tides Center allows its relationship with The Heinz Endowments to dictate its mission and activities.
Tides Center, an independent offshoot of Tides Foundation, provides administrative and management services to nonprofit projects across the country. Each Tides Center project raises funds for their program activities with the assurance that their funds are separately accounted for and administered. While the Center has received support from the Heinz Endowments specifically to support projects in Pennsylvania focusing on youth and the environment, none of the money has gone to September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows.
Our funding support of Peaceful Tomorrows consists in its entirety of four grants in 2002 and 2003 for a combined total of $34,665.
Your assertion that monies Tides Foundation distributes are "fungible" is completely without merit. The rigors of fund accounting, restricted grants, and annual audits preclude this from happening. For The Wall Street Journal to suggest otherwise is not only misleading, it's irresponsible. And suggesting that Tides Center would "sever ties with Peaceful Tomorrows" but for money we receive from The Heinz Endowments is similarly baseless.
At Tides, we believe deeply in the notion of a civil society that engages all of its citizenry. Our work speaks for itself in the range of program activities that defies descriptors as having any particular agenda or perspective. Yes, we funded a group of individuals personally touched by 9/11 who would like their voice to be heard. We also fund disaster relief efforts, environmental protection and youth education.
I could effectively argue that the Journal's editorial is far more "politically motivated" then the grants that Tides Foundation makes. If you took the time to learn about Tides, you would know that we believe the voices of Peaceful Tomorrows, like those of all Americans, are important.
Sincerely,
Drummond Pike

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tides Foundation and Tides Center Statement Regarding Recent Scrutiny over Heinz Endowments
Date: March 11, 2004
Tides Foundation and Tides Center have come under attack in several opinion pieces recently appearing in media such as the The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Times, among others. The articles make false allegations relating specifically to Tides and the funding it receives from The Heinz Endowments, as well as Tides' support of a group called "September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows." The allegations are without merit, consisting entirely of errors and innuendo.
Here are the facts: The Heinz Endowments have granted Tides Foundation $230,000 dispensed between 1994 and 1998. These grants were used solely to support a pollution prevention initiative and other environmentally friendly practices by industries in Western Pennsylvania. Tides Center, an independent organization providing administrative and financial services to hundreds of projects across the country, has received additional support from The Heinz Endowments specifically to support projects in Pennsylvania. The vast majority of the projects funded through these endowments were related to either environmental protection or youth education. No Heinz- related money has gone to fund September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows. Teresa Heinz Kerry, the wife of Senator John Kerry, chairs The Howard Heinz Endowment and sits on Vira I. Heinz Endowment's board.
For the record, the Tides family of organizations is proud to provide support and services to Peaceful Tomorrows - a grassroots organization whose activities revolve around nonviolence and peaceful resolutions - through Tides Foundation, Tides Center, and Groundspring.org, an organization that provides training and web-based services for online fundraising. Tides Foundation has made four grants in 2002 and 2003 for a combined total of $34,665 to Peaceful Tomorrows. Peaceful Tomorrows has raised $19,097 through Groundspring.org since August, 2002.
Tides Foundation employs donor advised funds, the same financial vehicle administered in precisely the same way as the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund and similar programs operated by Schwab, Vanguard, and more than 600 community foundations across the country. Tides works under the rigors of fund accounting, restricted grants, and annual audits, ensuring that all monies released by Tides are properly distributed and accounted for. Tides Center projects each raise funds for their individual program activities, with these funds being separately accounted for and administered. These funds are limited for the specific purposes for which they were given.
At Tides, our goal is a society based on fairness, equally shared economic opportunities, engaged and active citizens and environmental sustainability. In 2002 and 2003, Tides Foundation made more than 6,000 separate grants to nonprofit organizations totaling more than $100 million and Tides Center provides over 250 emerging projects with support services. Our work speaks for itself in the range of program activities that supports a diverse array of organizations working on projects from human rights to disaster relief and youth education.

Since people are content to judge this woman based on slanted articles, how about hearing it from her own lips?
Mrs. Heinz Kerry in an interview on Larry King Live with her husband (on becomming a Democrat).
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0407/08/lkl.00.html
"KING: Was it difficult, Teresa, to have been married to a Republican who died tragically and then to marry a Democrat, albeit Senator Heinz was a kind of moderate Republican?
HEINZ KERRY: Yes, he was, proudly so.
KING: Have you had a shift political views?
HEINZ KERRY: Not at all.
KING: No?
HEINZ KERRY: Not at all. You know, I am always who I am, and anyone who's known me forever will tell you that. I guess there's enough of a child in me that that's important. And also, I am the product of living in dictatorships. And someone who's lived in dictatorships and not being allowed to be themselves, it cherishes the ability to be yourself and to have feelings and to speak them when asked. And I am that person.
My late husband, for anyone who knew him, was a very Socratic person. He loved discussion. He loved to solve problems. He loved chess. He loved bridge. He loved to always get better. And he, kindly enough, to even introduce me to John the year before he was killed. They both were speaking in the same place on Earth Day.
KING: Really? You got along well with him?
KERRY: I did. I liked him very, very much.
KING: I did too. I interviewed him. He was some guy.
HEINZ KERRY: I think what I've taken from my life always is that what matters about choices that one makes at this level -- and I don't mean at the presidential level, but in one's life -- questions about morality of issues, not you're right, I'm wrong, Republicans are bad, Democrats are good, or vice versa. It is what is in the best interests of people. And so, it's just the way I think. And so, I never judge things according to party lines.
KING: So you don't label yourself, Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal.
HEINZ KERRY: No. I've always worked on bipartisans, whether it's on healthcare, drug reform, et cetera. All my work is bipartisan, because what I'm -- as nonpartisan actually, because I look for solutions. I'm very practical. And so was my late husband.
And so, the transition doesn't come from anything that I have to change inside, it's more -- mind you, I did not change my party until two years ago -- a year-and-a-half ago.
KING: Wait a minute, you remained...
HEINZ KERRY: A Republican until a year-and-a-half ago, until Max Green was defeated. And when Max Green was defeated the way he was, I was so very upset that I thought if Jack had been alive he would've been so offended by what they did to him, and I just left then. I was really upset by that.
Care to take another shot, cons?
