I gave it six months when it first began, and it looks like I am right on target.

Not to mention the fact tha the radio network is bankrupt and will never ever be able to repay the loans it has received from people to stay afloat for this long.

They may be down, but I would not consider them out just yet. Who knows, stranger things have happened, just look at Michael Jackson. :-)

Al Franken Beats O'Reilly in NY Radio Matchup

By Steve Gorman

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Despite the rocky start of his liberal Air America radio network, political humorist Al Franken surged past conservative nemesis Bill O'Reilly in the first quarterly ratings matchup between the two in New York City.

But before liberals can claim a victory in the battle for ears of listeners in America's biggest city, consider this: Veteran conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh beat them both.

"The Al Franken Show," airing weekdays on WLIB-AM, more than doubled O'Reilly's "The Radio Factor" on WOR-AM among listeners aged 25 to 54 -- the group advertisers prize most -- during the only hour when the two go head to head in New York, Arbitron Inc. reported on Tuesday.

According to its April-to-June survey, the first since Air America's debut, Franken posted a 2.6 share from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., compared with a 1.1 share for O'Reilly in the 25-54 demographic.

An Arbitron share is an average quarter-hour measure of listenership that combines audience size with the amount of time people are tuned in.

O'Reilly did slightly better than Franken in the broader demographic of all listeners aged 12 and up. But they were each eclipsed by Limbaugh in both demographics.

Franken and O'Reilly clashed last year over the political satirist's popular book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right," which poked fun at the Fox News Channel and O'Reilly, who hosts a popular Fox show.

Fox News sued Franken and his publisher, claiming the book's subtitle infringed on its trademark phrase "Fair and Balanced." Fox dropped the suit after a judge said its motion for an injunction was "wholly without merit."

Franken launched Air America amid much fanfare on March 31 as a liberal radio alternative to a predominantly right-leaning talk show culture whose ranks include such personalities as Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and O'Reilly.

But the network soon ran into management and financial troubles.

With a new group of executives in charge and investors committing more capital, network insiders have said the venture is bouncing back. Air America now claims 17 stations nationwide, plus a presence on the XM and Sirius satellite radio networks

How were Limbaugh's ratings in his 3rd month on the air? How were Hannity's?

Please post those numbers and get back to us.

The greatest Anti-Bush voice on the radio kills them all, Stern. Who listens to Stern most? Young, White, Conservative, Men.

Al FRANKEN SMASHES O'REILLY RADIO IN NYC MATCH-UP

AIR AMERICA's Al Franken shot past INFINITY's Bill O'Reilly in the just released ARBITRON radio rates for April thru June, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The Franken victory over his latest nemesis came in the ad-friendly 25-54 demo, during the 2 to 3 pm hour, the only hour when the two directly squared off in the nation's top market New York City.

Franken topped O'Reilly for the book, but did experience audience erosion in May and June after AIR AMERICA's much publicized launch.

Rush Limbaugh easily took top honors in all demos, ARBITRON reports, pulling in more total listeners age 12+ than Franken and O'Reilly -- combined!

The problem with Air America is that they are losing money by the boat load.

They cannot sell advertising, especially the coveted national advertising spots, which Hannity, Rush and hosts of others did not have a problem doing....

Why? Because each of these people debuted on more than 13 stations. Hannity debuted on over 300, O'Reilly on over 400.

An organization or company might have many problems, but one thing about AA is certain:

Their message is not having problems.

No one's spitting up Limbaugh's ratings after 3 months? Hannity came into a very well established Conservative Radio Market (They can all thank Clinton)

While I don't readily look forward to Herman Munster being President, he's going to be, so enjoy it.

Well the poll numbers don't accurately reflect your opinion too strongly and the Democrats are getting worried, especially in the areas where Nader is a factor, as then Kerry is trailing in many of those polls (albeit by only 1 to 3 points).

Bush's numbers are at his lowest, and the best Kerry can manage is a 2 point lead. Most polls show this as a neck and neck race, which is not something Kerry was hoping to see, with Bush's numbers being so poor.

Apparently the country may not approve of Bush's performance, but they don't like Kerry either. (This is the same scenario as in 2000....the lesser of 2 evils). I don't really like either candidate, but at least I know how Bush is going to deal with the terrorism issue, and is planning on keeping the UN as far out of our politics as possible. To me, this is a very large plus.

By the way, I do agree that he does bear a striking resemblence to Herman Munster.

The tickets should be Herman Munster vs. the Chimp....LOL
