The Successes of President George Bush

Dear Reader,

I'm getting sick and tired of my fellow Americans

saying that the presidency of George W. Bush is a

failure. With the string of successes he's had,

nothing could be further from the truth. Let me list a

few:

1. He has successfully rid America of that troubling

budget surplus and turned it into a $500 billion

deficit.

2. He has successfully helped America's trading

partners have the highest trade surplus with us in

America's history.

3. He has successfully lowered the taxes for the

richest Americans and corporations at the expense of

99% of the American population.

4. He has successfully started another Viet Nam in

Iraq after lying to the whole world.

5. He has successfully pushed the price of gas up to

the highest level ever here in America.

6. He has successfully allowed American corporations

to dramatically increase their pollution.

7. He has successfully thrown about 10% of the

population out of work.

8. He has successfully allowed corporations to export

our best middle-class jobs.

9. He has successfully divided our country as never

before.

10. He has successfully driven our oldest allies away.

11. He has successfully united the terrorists as never

before (he said all along he was a uniter, not a

divider).

12. He has successfully broken his oath to uphold the

constitution of the United States of America.

13. He has successfully united Democrats (yay!) as

they haven't been for years (I told you he was a

uniter).

14. He has successfully driven me out of the

Republican party for the rest of my life.

You know, with a string of successes like that, it's a

wonder America is still standing.

"I'm very liberal on many social issues, but understand the notion of: Live and let live."

Huh? How on earth is trying to prevent gay couples marrying any semblance of the phrase 'Live and let live?'

Sir, you are living in a state of denial. You are neither middle of the road, nor are you a voice of reason in this particular debate. I guess I'm just not understanding what it is that you think the advantage is of passing yourself off as neutral?

I completely support questioning both candidates and, to be honest, am disappointed for the second election in a row in our choices. But you are jumping on Kerry left and right here and while you do have valid points about his weaknesses, you are not questioning Bush's weaknesses at all. Maybe it's that you don't see weaknesses in him, which is fine, but then you are certainly not middle of the road. You are a Bush supporter.

As an Independent, I am merely alarmed that you bring that up as your party affiliation every chance you get, when you are clearly aligned with the Republican party. If you're a Republican, just say you're a Republican! Sheesh! There's no gain in pretending to be an Independent. And, if you are truly registered as one, I suggest you change your affiliation to correctly reflect your views.

If you are going to insist that you are not Republican or that you don't like George Bush either, I think you need to back that up with reviewing the facts of both candidates performances (and not something ambiguous like you think Bush has done well fighting terrorism) and calling Bush on as many of his weaknesses as Kerry's. Only then can someone really make a balanced decision.

I didn't realize that "independent" was a party affiliation. I thought it meant that one was NOT affiliated with any particular party. I know that on my county's voter registration forms, there is no box to check to declare onself an "independent."

And I see no conflict in one declaring himself an independent, yet backing Bush. Nor does that make him a Republican. It simply means that he is supporting the candidate he feels will do the most good for our country, instead of allowing a political party to dictate his choices for him.

OH wow !!!!!!! Thanks so very much ;-) honestly at least I know now that not everyone has freaked on me ... why do the liberals have so much hate in their hearts??? :S do they not know how unhealthy that is.

I too came from a poor background not middle class but down right POOR and I AM a REPUBLICAN !!!! VERY PROUD OF IT TOO !!!

If the only thing that drives the Democratic party is hate, then we do not have much there do we???

My nephew is in Iraq after coming home from Afghanistan and going to college... he just could NOT stay here... no one called him ... no one recruited him ... he had been involved in our nation's defense and the honor of doing so and he just could not stay here ... he KNOWS WHY and WHAT we are fighting for ... and he could not sit here safely and watch others fight for our protection and freedom. He chose to go back and is presently in the green zone in Iraq.

I voted for GORE in the last election I am SAD to say. But I remember 9-11 and I thanked God that Bush was in office instead of Gore. Only God knows where we would be now... but then I guess that is why Bush won after all :)

I am NOT mainstream religious but I have never been abused or mistreated because of my religious beliefs. I am NOT mainstream anything ... I am simply me ... the way the REPUBLICAN party allows all to be ... we do not have to fit a mold to be in this party :) we can make up our own minds :)

Anyway I have honestly seen that there is no way to talk any sense to an intolerant, biased, disillusioned, close-minded, flip flopping, ill informed bunch of liberals who have hate in their hearts. They Say they are liberal , but good greif they are among the most biased people and hating People I have ever seen :( I have NO desire to argue with any more idiots.

what is funny too is all of the people are not really "pro-Kerry" they are just "anti-Bush" geeezzzz what a way to choose how one will vote :(

Thanks for letting me know I am NOT alone :)

Bravo - you've done a spectacular job of listing the Bush presidency's "successes". He really has polarized the country...not what we need in a leader.

It depends on your perspective. Many view live and let live as the status quo. When you start talking about changing the most basic societal institutions in a fundamental way, all of us are affected.
