The Successes of President George Bush

Dear Reader,

I'm getting sick and tired of my fellow Americans

saying that the presidency of George W. Bush is a

failure. With the string of successes he's had,

nothing could be further from the truth. Let me list a

few:

1. He has successfully rid America of that troubling

budget surplus and turned it into a $500 billion

deficit.

2. He has successfully helped America's trading

partners have the highest trade surplus with us in

America's history.

3. He has successfully lowered the taxes for the

richest Americans and corporations at the expense of

99% of the American population.

4. He has successfully started another Viet Nam in

Iraq after lying to the whole world.

5. He has successfully pushed the price of gas up to

the highest level ever here in America.

6. He has successfully allowed American corporations

to dramatically increase their pollution.

7. He has successfully thrown about 10% of the

population out of work.

8. He has successfully allowed corporations to export

our best middle-class jobs.

9. He has successfully divided our country as never

before.

10. He has successfully driven our oldest allies away.

11. He has successfully united the terrorists as never

before (he said all along he was a uniter, not a

divider).

12. He has successfully broken his oath to uphold the

constitution of the United States of America.

13. He has successfully united Democrats (yay!) as

they haven't been for years (I told you he was a

uniter).

14. He has successfully driven me out of the

Republican party for the rest of my life.

You know, with a string of successes like that, it's a

wonder America is still standing.

The active duty military people generally vote republican because of the strong military spiel(although this year I expect to see a drop in support for Bush among active duty family members if not the actual active duty member). The other group that are Republicans those that are extremely religious and feel the need to enforce their religion on others(those that are pro-life,etc).

Exaclty. I just hope there are enough people who are disappointed in this president's performance to get him out of office before this country is ruined so badly at home and around the world that we cannot fix it. I know that the debt we are leaving now will be paid for by my children and grandchildren and it sickens me.

Oh and I stick by the statement that most Republicans are either wealthy or upper-middle, active duty military or extremely religious(always hear media referring to religious south that will not vote for dems because of religious issues, gay marriage issue,pro-choice/pro-life issues..etc). In addition, MOST are not minorities.

I find this true also, and that Reps are the ones who are terrified of being taxed and losing their money (like any of us like taxes).

There are some mentions on his site about what he has done but not specific bills. Still it is quite impressive.

Also his service records are all there. http://www.johnkerry.com/about/john_kerry/military_records.html

His website suggests otherwise:

we are all here, and while no president can make me rich or poor, they can change things for these people by funding these programs more than the programs that make weapons.
Right now some kid is hiding in a closet near you, hungry and scared and alone.

Amen. And what many don't realize is that these very kids, if not helped, will cost us all in social services, prisons, more kids hungry alone and on the dole. We ALL pay when these kids/people are ignored. It would be so easy if we could just ignore them, pretend they are someone else's responsibility. They are ours! Whether we accept it or not we will all pay one way or another!

The Government should actually spend more time looking at ways to reduce spending and make the money they take in with tax dollars actually go a little further. I would like to see politicians actually reduce the pork spending and special projects, to concentrate on the actual necessities of this country.

The answer is not raising taxes, it is controlled spending and cutting out programs that are just outright wasteful. I have been around too long to be told otherwise.

I agree with everything you said here. I think we may just disagree on what is wasteful and what is necessary. But with your basic premise I agree completely, couldn't have been said better. Tthis proves we really all want the same end result. We want all that dam* money we give the government to be spent wisely. We work too hard to expect and demand otherwise.

Do you live near a military base? My dh is active duty Army and where we are stationed most people I know ARE voting for Bush, including myself and my husband. I have not seen one pro-Kerry sticker anywhere on post. All I see are pro-Bush stickers. Come to think of it I haven't seen any Kerry supporters off post either, hmmmm.... Anyway, all my neighbors are voting for Bush and all my co-workers are as well. I suppose I should mention almost all my co-workers are military spouses, have served or have a family member serving in the military.

At the military spouse forum I belong to about 95% ARE voting for Bush, as are our dhs, the active duty member. We are women representing all 5 branches, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, active duty, Nation Guard or Resrves, stationed all over the country and a few overseas. Those of us who support Bush do so because we trust him with our husbands' lives and do not want Kerry as their Commander in Chief. We do care about other issues and we do discuss and debate about the economy and healthcare as well, but for us who will be our dhs' CIC is our foremost concern.

I have read most of everyone's reasons for their vote of choice. Most responses are based on what each person believes as true. That is why I vote for John Kerry. No long explanations but right to the point, as one vote... I pray my vote makes the difference. He will save the future of this country. After what happened at the World Trade Center tragedy to the largest protest demonstration against the policies of a President since the Viet Nam War. What does that tell you? America wants Kerry for the next President of the United States. I believe I will be able to come back to this site after John Kerry proves he will be the best president since John Kennedy and just be happy for us all.

There are good and decent people who are both Republicans and Democrats. To make such blanket statements as are written on this board about Republicans is untruths, halftruths, and mistruths.

Republicans are for education for all children. They happen to think that competition can change eductation by allowing parents a say in where their child goes. I worked with many single low income families. Many were struggling to send their children to private schools to get them out of an inner city Schools that did not meet their needs despite spending many thousands of dollars per pupil.

Taxes refunds were for all those who pay taxes. Many low income families not only don't pay taxes, via the earned income tax credit they receive tax money back (wealth equalization) thus the person sitting beside me at work who lived with her boyfriend and had two children with him received the EITC of several thousand dollars. It was about what I paid in taxes (because I was married to the father of my children). The additional per child tax credit went to everyone in the lower and middle income tax bracket that paid taxes. How is that tax breaks for the rich? Inciting class envy doesn't change the truth. If you paid taxes you received refunds.

The Military was depleted long before Bush came into office. It is being built back up in addition to being used for actual exploits to bring democracy to the middle east and remove terrorism in Pakistan, Afganistan, and Iraq. Our actions have caused countries all over the world to crack down on terrorism in ways that have not happened in the last 50 years. Terrorism is a real and true threat and those that refuse to look at it in the whole refuse to see the damage and danger that needs to be confronted and overcome.

The old arguments of the times (pro-life, welfare reform, civil union rather than the "religious title of Marriage") are always turned around and have been argued before. No need to expound here as people's opinions are very deep and personally held.

Additionally many African Americans have seen positve action from the Bush group. He has placed more minorities AA and other's in higher cabinet and senior positions than any other candidate - it isn't just talk to him. He didn't speak to the NAACP who was being pretty nasty at the time but did talk to the Urban League and others minority organizations.

We can twist or state things in manners that are half truths but that doesn't change the truth. You may not agree with the republican party but the demagogary should be shown for what it is.
