The Successes of President George Bush

Dear Reader,

I'm getting sick and tired of my fellow Americans

saying that the presidency of George W. Bush is a

failure. With the string of successes he's had,

nothing could be further from the truth. Let me list a

few:

1. He has successfully rid America of that troubling

budget surplus and turned it into a $500 billion

deficit.

2. He has successfully helped America's trading

partners have the highest trade surplus with us in

America's history.

3. He has successfully lowered the taxes for the

richest Americans and corporations at the expense of

99% of the American population.

4. He has successfully started another Viet Nam in

Iraq after lying to the whole world.

5. He has successfully pushed the price of gas up to

the highest level ever here in America.

6. He has successfully allowed American corporations

to dramatically increase their pollution.

7. He has successfully thrown about 10% of the

population out of work.

8. He has successfully allowed corporations to export

our best middle-class jobs.

9. He has successfully divided our country as never

before.

10. He has successfully driven our oldest allies away.

11. He has successfully united the terrorists as never

before (he said all along he was a uniter, not a

divider).

12. He has successfully broken his oath to uphold the

constitution of the United States of America.

13. He has successfully united Democrats (yay!) as

they haven't been for years (I told you he was a

uniter).

14. He has successfully driven me out of the

Republican party for the rest of my life.

You know, with a string of successes like that, it's a

wonder America is still standing.

I love your response and couldn't agree with you more. George W Bush is a great leader.

Before you decide who you want to vote for, Bush or Kerry. Please read the following speech.

Did anyone see Michael S. Steele's speech at the Republician convention.

Maryland Lieutenant Governor, Michael S. Steele gave a wonderful speech tonight - even better (and that is saying something!) than the Govenator, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But while the promise of America is real, the challenges we face to secure that promise for every American are no less real. We must continue to be vigilant in our fight against the blight of poverty, poor education and lost opportunity. What truly defines the civil rights challenge today isn't whether you can get a seat at the lunch counter, it's whether you can own that lunch counter to create legacy wealth for your children.

(APPLAUSE)

Now, at the Democratic convention, we heard one word over and over again: hope. But there's a problem, my friends. Hope is not a strategy. Hope doesn't protect your kids from terrorism. Hope doesn't lower your taxes. Hope doesn't help you buy a home. And hope doesn't ensure quality education for your children.

Good stuff all around - but this is the part that I just adored...

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and incentive.

And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they should do for themselves.

These are the beliefs of our Republican Party. These are the beliefs and the principles that drew me to this party 28 years ago. And today, the standard-bearer of these convictions is George W. Bush.

Unfortunately, Steele wasn't carried live on the network - he was right before Arnold, who had a beautifully timed and executed speech. (Text - Video)

To me - the best part was this...

Now, many of you out there tonight are Republican like me in your hearts and in your beliefs. Maybe you're from Guatemala. Maybe you're from the Philippines. Maybe you're from Europe or the Ivory Coast. Maybe you live in Ohio, Pennsylvania or New Mexico.

(APPLAUSE)

And maybe -- just maybe -- you don't agree with this party on every single issue. I say to you tonight that I believe that's not only OK, but that's what's great about this country.

(APPLAUSE)

Here we can respectfully disagree and still be patriotic, still be American and still be good Republicans.

(APPLAUSE)

My fellow immigrants, my fellow Americans, how do you know if you are a Republican? Well, I tell you how. If you believe that government should be accountable to the people, not the people to the government, then you are a Republican.

(APPLAUSE)

If you believe a person should be treated as an individual, not as a member of an interest group, then you are a Republican.

(APPLAUSE)

If you believe your family knows how to spend your money better than the government does, then you are a Republican.

(APPLAUSE)

If you believe our educational system should be held accountable for the progress of our children, then you are a Republican.

(APPLAUSE)

If you believe this country, not the United Nations, is the best hope for democracy, then you are a Republican.

(APPLAUSE)

And, ladies and gentlemen, if you believe that we must be fierce and relentless and terminate terrorism, then you are a Republican.

(APPLAUSE)

Now, there's another way you can tell you're a Republican. You have faith in free enterprise, faith in the resourcefulness of the American people and faith in the U.S. economy. And to those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy, I say: Don't be economic girlie-men.

(APPLAUSE)

The U.S. economy remains the envy of the world. We have the highest economic growth of any of the world's major industrialized nations. Don't you remember the pessimism of 20 years ago, when the critics said Japan and Germany are overtaking the U.S.? Ridiculous.

Now, they say that India and China are overtaking us. Don't you believe it. We may hit a few bumps, but America always moves ahead. That's what Americans do.

(APPLAUSE)

We move prosperity ahead.

(APPLAUSE)

We move prosperity ahead. We move freedom ahead. And we move people ahead.

"If the only thing that drives the Democratic party is hate, then we do not have much there do we??? "

That is not only untrue (truthseeker?), but a gross generalization.

I hope your nephew comes home alive.

Are you referring to freedom of speech? It isn't arrogance to speak our minds, & to participate in debate about the issues, it's our right & our responsibility. I consider it arrogant to discourage free & open debate.

Your gross generalizations about democrats are silly, inaccurate, & contribute nothing positive to debate or discussion. I don't post generalizations about republicans, as I know a few & they seem to be decent people, I wouldn't want to insult them. You on the other hand apparently feel free to criticise a whole group based on a few preconcieved ideas.

< My husband is a veteran of Viet Nam, Desert Storm, and held 7 commands. We are Republican and proud of it. We are not rich yet but plan to be because we are not dependent on big government like the Democrats. You want all these social programs so you can live off of us. I pity you and your ignorance. As for our fighting men and women they are there because they have principles and morals. They love their country and are defending it so we can be free. It is sad that so many like you take that freedom for granted. They fight so you can knock them down, what terrible arrogance!>

I think you miss the point. It is only a smart move for a person to be a republican if they are making copious amounts of money. The fact that you don't and yet you are a Republcian is confusing to some, because it is not in your best interest, or the best interest of your husband or daughter...

Being a Republican is not about being moral, but the Republicans have equated it to that, and that is why so many people are voting against their best interest. But, the morality angle of the Republican party is a way of getting votes, nothing more.

I am a Democrat, and I am a Christian, I am married, I have a full time job, and I consider myself to be very moral.

I think people need to work hard to get ahead, but I dont support the corporations over the people. I don't understand how anyone can.

I balance my checkbook and I pay all my debts. I can't support a President who doesn't do the same with the country that I love, and with the taxes that I pay.

I value the military, as I'm sure you do also, and I hold my president accountable if they mislead the country into a war that didn't have to happen. And, in this particular case, a war that was "optional" that was built on misguided intelligence when we had inspectors there who could verify the facts, AND a war that took resources away from the war on terror that I hold as most important.

I began voting as a registered Republican...but I had to change. This president is the opposite of what I want, the only people who I can understand voting for him are the very rich who got a big tax break...but that's it...if you aren't and you are voting Republican, I would be interested in you explaining to me why?
