The Successes of President George Bush

Dear Reader,

I'm getting sick and tired of my fellow Americans

saying that the presidency of George W. Bush is a

failure. With the string of successes he's had,

nothing could be further from the truth. Let me list a

few:

1. He has successfully rid America of that troubling

budget surplus and turned it into a $500 billion

deficit.

2. He has successfully helped America's trading

partners have the highest trade surplus with us in

America's history.

3. He has successfully lowered the taxes for the

richest Americans and corporations at the expense of

99% of the American population.

4. He has successfully started another Viet Nam in

Iraq after lying to the whole world.

5. He has successfully pushed the price of gas up to

the highest level ever here in America.

6. He has successfully allowed American corporations

to dramatically increase their pollution.

7. He has successfully thrown about 10% of the

population out of work.

8. He has successfully allowed corporations to export

our best middle-class jobs.

9. He has successfully divided our country as never

before.

10. He has successfully driven our oldest allies away.

11. He has successfully united the terrorists as never

before (he said all along he was a uniter, not a

divider).

12. He has successfully broken his oath to uphold the

constitution of the United States of America.

13. He has successfully united Democrats (yay!) as

they haven't been for years (I told you he was a

uniter).

14. He has successfully driven me out of the

Republican party for the rest of my life.

You know, with a string of successes like that, it's a

wonder America is still standing.

Maybe you do some research before you start typing.

Racists and homomphobes? That is not what the republican party is about. First of all, Cheney has a lesbian daughter and openly supports gay marriage! How is that for a homophobe?

Yes there are some right-wing people who are so far out there and ARE racists and homophobes, but that is just like there are some left-wing people who spend more money trying to save trees and puppies than children. Every party has their extremists!

Nobody feels the need to enforce their religion on others. I am religious, and yes, pro-life. But I don't care if you agree with me or not. I want the laws to agree with me, just like you do. So I could technically say that the Atheists who are pro-choice are trying to force me to be an Atheist as well???????? But that would sound crazy, wouldn't it! You have to know that everything you think about us "crazy, rich, religious Republicans" can be turned right back around to you!

<> I know this is true, Miffy, but wasn't Kerry already out of the military when in Paris? That was 1970, and I thought he was done by then, but I don't know for sure, so was curious.

My father-in-law, a Vietnam vet, retired after 20 years in the Army, and now works as a P.A. at our local Veteran's Hospital is not allowed to speak out against whoever is the current president, because he is a federal employee, so that code DID sound familiar to me. He can support another candidate (he has a "Veterans for Kerry" sticker on his car!), but he can't go to Bush protests or anything like that. (Or at least get CAUGHT doing that!) Anyway, so I guess that's true for uniformed military AND fed. employees.

P.S. I think you're a great CL, and my 5 yr old daughter reads over my shoulder sometimes, she wants to know if YOU know the little bunny on her favorite show "Miffy and Friends"!!!!! (on Noggin, a kid's channel---I know you're overseas, so don't know if you've seen it!) Sorry, this is off-topic, I know......

Let me just start off by saying: no matter what opinion you may or may not have, George W. Bush IS our president and deserves our respect no matter what he does. As a whole, we (America) put him in his position and need to respect that.

Now I would just like to reply to your list of Bush's Successes.

1. Nobody seems to remember that our country had a very high deficit long before Bush took office. Not only that, but he has put a plan to cut the deficit in half in 5 years. That's better than any other ideas I've heard.

2. What's the problem with the trade surplus? I see no problem there!

3. Give me a break. I received lower taxes, and I am far from the "richest Americans." I happen to know that 99% of the Americans I know are seeing more money, not less. Not only that, but at the RNC, he announced that he is going to change the tax codes. Sounds like more great news to me!

4. This is where you pi**ed me off. This is not Vietnam. This is the War on Terror. We were attacked and we must defend ourselves to keep from being attacked again. Vietnam was not our problem, we went for no reason. This is our problem. The terrorists made it our problem. As for lying to us, that is just so out there. As far as Bush, and Tony Blair, and anybody else could tell, Sadam had WMD. So we haven't found them (yet). Had Bush not sent our troops into Iraq, and something had happened, he would have been blamed, just like he's been blamed for 9/11. He did the only logical thing. He was protecting the country and the world from the possibility of terrorist attacks worse than anything we've ever seen. I am personally glad that he got proved wrong this way instead of proved right with a Biological or Chemical War.

5. Do you really think that Bush singlehandedly controls the gas prices? For those of you that do, consider this: If the gas prices are all Bush's fault, how do you explain that gas prices are at their highest worldwide?

6. Pollution? Really? I can't even believe it's an issue with all that's going on in this day and age.

7. The economy is on the rebound and the unemployment rate is dropping. Even the most liberal news channels are reporting that (CNN).

8. Americans are missing out of the jobs all on their own. Since the unemployment rate is "SO HIGH" you would think that the Americans would take what they could get. But companies can find people to do the work for much cheaper, so why wouldn't they. I don't necessarily agree with it, but as a business owner, I can see where it makes sense!

9. Bush did not divide our country. The liberals divided our country. The reason I don't think that both parties are responsible is because right after 9/11, we all stood behind Bush. Then the libs changed their minds? I don't really know what happened. We are still fighting the War on Terror, and the Republicans are still behind our president.

10. If by our oldest allies you mean France, then all I can say is "so?"

11. I hate to tell you, but the terrorists were united long before Bush took office. The thing that unites them is that they hate America. They hate us and would like to kill us whether we are fighting them or not.

12. You are going to have to be more specific on how he has broken his oath to uphold the constitution. That seems to be utter BS to me.

13. It seems sad to me that what unites Democrats is hate.

14. Good riddance!

Thank the Lord for Bush's successes. I praise God every day that Gore wasn't in office during 9/11. Where would we be now?

Wow, your point #14 makes all the rest of the so called points worth reading. Please don't come back to the Republicans when you need honesty or money. Stay with waffles, they probably look great on your hips.

I'm always interested to hear the other side, and this whole board is a fascinating debate. But it's really sad that people (not just you, but people arguing both sides) keep bringing "hate" into it. I don't think a lot of these comments are meant as personal attacks, and it's unfortunate that because I'm a liberal and a Democrat, you're saying that I'm united in hate. I don't hate you, I don't hate Republicans, I don't hate George Bush. I completely disagree with the President on almost every issue, but I certainly don't wish him any harm.
