Bush's Successes

Dear Reader,
I'm getting sick and tired of my fellow Americans
saying that the presidency of George W. Bush is a
failure. With the string of successes he's had,
nothing could be further from the truth. Let me list a
few:
1. He has successfully rid America of that troubling
budget surplus and turned it into a $500 billion
deficit.
2. He has successfully helped America's trading
partners have the highest trade surplus with us in
America's history.
3. He has successfully lowered the taxes for the
richest Americans and corporations at the expense of
99% of the American population.
4. He has successfully started another Viet Nam in
Iraq after lying to the whole world.
5. He has successfully pushed the price of gas up to
the highest level ever here in America.
6. He has successfully allowed American corporations
to dramatically increase their pollution.
7. He has successfully thrown about 10% of the
population out of work.
8. He has successfully allowed corporations to export
our best middle-class jobs.
9. He has successfully divided our country as never
before.
10. He has successfully driven our oldest allies away.
11. He has successfully united the terrorists as never
before (he said all along he was a uniter, not a
divider).
12. He has successfully broken his oath to uphold the
constitution of the United States of America.
13. He has successfully united Democrats (yay!) as
they haven't been for years (I told you he was a
uniter).
14. He has successfully driven me out of the
Republican party for the rest of my life.
You know, with a string of successes like that, it's a
wonder America is still standing.

"Deserves our respect NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES"
I gotta disagree ! No wonder we are having a problem, NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES????
He is a public servant, he is supposed to serve the people of this country. If he doesn't do that well, we should speak out.
< Let me just start off by saying: no matter what opinion you may or may not have, George W. Bush IS our president and deserves our respect no matter what he does. As a whole, we (America) put him in his position and need to respect that. >

I want the laws to agree with me, just like you do.
Just jumping in to say that I think this is the difference. Most Democrats do not want the laws to agree with us specifically, we want the freedom for people to be able to make choices in their lives. If you are religious, follow your beliefs but don't force others who may not be Christian (remember this is America where there are many belief systems) to be ruled by your beliefs. If you are not gay fine, just allow those who are to have the same rights you do. If you are pro-life, fine, don't have an abortion, but don't force those who are pro choice not to be able to choose what they want to do with their bodies and lives. You see it is different, we are more "live and let live" which is the American way. The extemists want to make laws that are aligned with their beliefs so everyone will be forced to do as they believe.
Bush is not a strong leader...he is just a "shoot from the hip" politician who thinks he can play fast and loose with our country's government, at the expense of the people...except those on his "friends" list. I would like to remind those of you out there who disagree with me, that Reagan (another Republican) was the one who armed Saddam Hussein in the first place! If he was okay then, how did he suddenly become such a bad guy? And if he's really a bad guy (which I believe he is, but he wasn't the one who led the attack on the twin towers, the pentagon, and purportedly the White House, had our brave citizens not given their lives to stop it), then why did the Republicans arm him to begin with? Iraq is a war which should have never been started, and is indeed another "Vietnam". And it is obvious from military records that George W. was AWOL in THAT war. Our brightest and bravest young people have given their lives for this war, leaving behind grieving family members, widows, and children who will never be able to look into their father's eyes, because his young life was snatched away by a war that should have never been. Those who have survived must live with horrible injuries, and struggles that have only just begun. Will the Republicans snatch away their health care benefits, too, just as Reagan did to the Vietnam vets in the 80's?
And why is it that our country must rebuild Iraq, at the expense of our fragile, our weak, our ill, and our poor? Why is it that we must provide safe schools and good medical care for all Iraqis, when to do so here at home would be socialism? Why are we still the only first world nation without a national healthcare system? Why is it that we are told we cannot purchase cheaper (but equal in quality) medications from Canada? Because the Republican cronies are lining their pockets with PAC money from the drug companies, the insurance companies, and any other entity that stands to profit from preventing our country from progressing to the level of other first world nations in these areas. Why is it that Congressional members have the best healthcare in the nation, and have the tab picked up by taxpayers earning roughly a fourth of a Congressman's annual salary?
Let me pose another question: Why is it that Republicans think they have a monopoly on God? I was raised in a Christian household, and prayer is as much a part of my daily life as breathing. I disagree with abortion, except in rare circumstances, such as the endangerment of the life of the mother. Does that make me a Republican. NO WAY!! That makes me who I am, and gives me my values, such as believing in the Golden Rule, the Ten Commandments, the Constitution, the Pledge of Allegience (including In God We Trust), and in loving others, because we are all children of God. I am an honest to God, USA-loving, God-fearing, hallelujah Christian Democrat! And I don't believe for one second that the Republican party is the "Christian party", and that if you aren't Republican, then you don't love God. If I remember my Bible correctly, although this is not a direct quote of the scripture, Jesus stated that the two greatest commandments were, first, to love God with all our heart, body, and spirit; and secondly to love our neighbors as ourselves. So it really makes me wonder when I hear direct from the mouths of many Republicans, "I HATE Bill and Hillary Clinton!" (Now is that really loving your neighbor?)
I will be voting for John Kerry in the next election...I believe he is a strong leader and willing to fight for our country and ALL it's people. He has proven himself on the battlefield; and if he threw away his medals in protest, so what? At least he fought with other brave soldiers and earned them...they were his to do with as he pleased. At least he had the guts to stand and fight, unlike George W. Bush, who received admittedly preferential treatment, got into the Air National Guard, but then didn't even serve his full term? And if some of you are too young to remember the Vietnam war, let me tell you that many a young soldier left his uniform and his medals/ribbons in airport restrooms, bus stations, and along highways, because they were met with the attack of "Baby Killers" when they stepped off that plane, train, or bus. My husband is a Vietnam vet, and for too many of these brave men, the wounds still run deep. They never deserved to be treated that way...but our government never stood up for them. Instead, after promising my husband and other veterans of his era free healthcare for life in exchange for their service, Ronald Reagan decided that our country no longer had to abide by that contract. How long will it be before George W. Bush does the same thing to our returning troops?
Should any of you disagree, it is your right to do so. But should you vote George W. Bush back into office for another four years, you have only yourselves to blame for the devastating mess he will leave behind him. He has already cost millions of jobs, increased tax cuts for his wealthy friends, and left us with a war without a planned exit strategy, all the while attempting to blame Bill Clinton and all Democrats for everything he could. Should you vote him in again, God only knows what he will do or say next. Before you check that box in November, make sure you can live with the decision you make.
Why are you Republican?
In all my years of voting, all I have ever seen the Republicans do is take from the poor and middle class to give "unto themselves". If you study history, you will see that, as the Republican party emerged from the "democratic-republican" party of yesteryear, it was made up of the wealthy, who were bent on changing the status quo in their favor, and the favor of their friends and allies.
I have been told that to be Christian, I must be a Republican. Hogwash!! My God knows my heart, and He hears my prayers. I don't hate anyone, and yet - over and over again - I have heard Republicans (with my own two ears, mind you) state that they "hate Bill and Hillary Clinton", and that they "hate the gays". Now, I may not agree with everything that everyone does in their personal lives, but my God tells me that I should love my enemy, and do good to them that hate me. Jesus tells us that we should love God first and foremost, and to love others as we love ourselves. But what I hear being spouted out of the mouths of too many Republicans is nothing short of hatred.
Today's Republicans still hold on to the "trickle-down economics" of the Reagan years. This means that they give the tax breaks to the wealthy, and the huge corporations, so that they will in turn have more money to hire the "lowly workers" that make them the profits that make them wealthy to begin with. But this is not what the wealthy do with their tax profits, as evidenced by the increased outsourcing of well-paying American jobs, and the enormous salary packages of corporate CEO's.
Congress, by their own hands, have voted themselves in raises whenever they feel like it; and yes, here I mean Republicans and Democrats as well. And they have the best health care system in the world, paid for by...you guessed it...hard working citizen's like you and I. Recent studies show that Congressional members make almost four times the annual salary of the typical working man or woman. And yet it is our tax dollars that pay for their health care. Who pays for yours? And why do your premiums and deductibles keep rising?
Because when the Republicans are in charge, they push through bills that help keep drug companies and insurance companies in business, all the while taking more money out of the pockets of hard-working Americans. They tell us that we cannot buy medications from Canada, although they are they same drugs, only less expensive. Why is that?
As to the war in Iraq: It was Reagan who armed Saddam Hussein with weapons to begin with, because the Republicans wanted him to battle Iran for us. When that didn't work, suddenly Saddam was a bad man, and we had to topple him. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11...and Bush has continued to pull troops out of Afghanistan, where they were sent to disband the Taliban and find Osama Bin Laden, the real mastermind behind that tragedy. As the war in Iraq continues to escalate, with over 800 troops having lost their lives since Bush declared "Mission Accomplished", terrorists have banded together stronger than ever to fight "the evil Americans".
So, please, before you vote Republican again...take a moment, consider all the facts, and tell me, WHY?? I am eager to hear your response.
My husband is a veteran. Tell it like it really is...all soldiers are encouraged to vote Republican...so that the Armed Forces will get more money.
It's the Republican warmongers who fund the armed forces, while us so-called "liberals" believe that not every disagreement has to be settled with weapons and the deaths of too many young men and women.
So the officers encourage the "gung-ho" soldiers to vote Republican. Tell your hubby to stand up and be a real man...vote his conscious...not what the officers tell him to vote.
And if, after considering all the facts, he still wants to vote Republican, then that's his right. But, honestly, why does he want to keep voting for someone determined to take money away from his wife (and children?) just to satisfy some overeager politician's wish list? While most of us got a piddly little $600.00 check, the wealthy got a whole lot more. And their still getting it...but are you getting another check anytime soon? I think not.
My husband never cowered down to this crap...voting is a very private thing, and NO ONE should be allowed to buy your vote...which is actually what the Republicans try to do with every soldier who ever served!!
Someone who actually remembers the past.
There's an old saying, "Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it."
Those are the ones who will vote for George W. Bush this election year.
My vote is for Kerry. At least he didn't run from battle when the time came. He didn't hide like Bush did. And, by the way, I don't see anyone in Bush's family over in Iraq...interesting, isn't it?
