Bush's Successes

Dear Reader,
I'm getting sick and tired of my fellow Americans
saying that the presidency of George W. Bush is a
failure. With the string of successes he's had,
nothing could be further from the truth. Let me list a
few:
1. He has successfully rid America of that troubling
budget surplus and turned it into a $500 billion
deficit.
2. He has successfully helped America's trading
partners have the highest trade surplus with us in
America's history.
3. He has successfully lowered the taxes for the
richest Americans and corporations at the expense of
99% of the American population.
4. He has successfully started another Viet Nam in
Iraq after lying to the whole world.
5. He has successfully pushed the price of gas up to
the highest level ever here in America.
6. He has successfully allowed American corporations
to dramatically increase their pollution.
7. He has successfully thrown about 10% of the
population out of work.
8. He has successfully allowed corporations to export
our best middle-class jobs.
9. He has successfully divided our country as never
before.
10. He has successfully driven our oldest allies away.
11. He has successfully united the terrorists as never
before (he said all along he was a uniter, not a
divider).
12. He has successfully broken his oath to uphold the
constitution of the United States of America.
13. He has successfully united Democrats (yay!) as
they haven't been for years (I told you he was a
uniter).
14. He has successfully driven me out of the
Republican party for the rest of my life.
You know, with a string of successes like that, it's a
wonder America is still standing.

Why don't you explain to us how you differ from the Republicans we see and hear on the news networks every single day, blasting away at anyone who disagrees with them.
George W. hasn't done me any favors lately, but I'd sure like to know what he's done for you and yours that would make you stand behind such a lying, warmongering President.
Yes, Cheney's daughter is gay...and he finally spoke up for her (suprise, suprise). Which is a good likelihood for the Republican party's discussion on removing Cheney from the ticket recently. It was dropped only because it would have caused a big scene, and opened the eyes of even more people as to the intolerance of the PUBLIC Republican figures.
So, if you and yours are so obviously different from all the Republicans who are representative of your party, I would surely like to hear how.
And, if you really ARE so different, then why are you voting for them?
Democrats are not anti-military. As I wrote before, my husband is a veteran, who believed in serving his country. And my family has many more veterans who all served willingly and faithfully, for their full terms. I have a nephew stationed overseas as we speak...and believe me, he's a Democrat!!
However, we don't think we are the world's police, and that we have to solve all the world's conflicts by bombing the living crap out of others. We believe in a strong defense for our country. But going to war for political gain...no way!! If we use our armed services appropriately, we don't need billions of dollars wasted on unnecessary wars.
Bush chose to go to war against Iraq to take the focus off of the fact that he couldn't find Osama Bin Laden. He pulled way too many troops out of Afghanistan, and moved them over to Iraq. All this has done is to unite terrorists, because the more countries we attack, the more people dislike us. Is it really that hard to understand?
Our brave, hard-working troops should be serving on the defensive end, not the offensive.
And, by the way, going to war without just cause, based on known lies, is truly offensive.
Wait...did I say serve? How ignorant of me!! I meant should he be given the opportunity to enrich the lives of his fellow Republicans, and all his rich cronies. The rest of us shouldn't hold our breath waiting for that next $600 check!!
My children, and myself, are very offended at the way George W. Bush has taken for granted the AA vote. And yes, avoiding the NAACP was indeed a slap in the face.
No wonder my family and friends are all voting for Kerry this election year!!
This may well be because, for too long, only the wealthy and connected have been elected into office. So most of what the other party sees is those who throw their weight around, and run rampant over members of the opposite side. Therefore, your assumption that the Bush party is not indicative of many Republicans may be well-founded. However, please read on for my opinion of our political system, which I feel is in dire need of repair. I for one think this party system is going to be our downfall.
I refuse to align myself with either party, for just such reasons. I believe one should be true unto themselves, and the truth is...there are some good Democrats, and some good Republicans. And there are a few of both I could certainly stand to see leave office.
However, in my experiences (and at my age, there have been many!!), I have found that the Republican party tends to be the party of the wealthy, conservative, strong military, anti-abortion/anti-pro choice, and "Christian" voters. This last one, however, is a misnomer, because to be Christian has nothing to do with politics. I have met and known God fearing people from both parties.
But, as I told someone earlier, I have been shocked by the number of Republicans who speak hatred against others, especially "Bill and Hillary Clinton", gays/lesbians, and pro-choice supporters.
I, personally, wonder why the Republicans, who propose to be vehemently anti-abortion, never seem to do anything to change the laws while they are in office. However, maybe this has something to do with the fact that many people still remember the days of "coat-hanger abortions". Now, I don't personally favor abortion as a means of birth control, (rather, I am strongly against it's use in this fashion), but I see instances where it is appropriate, such as when the mother's life is in danger, because (speaking as a medical professional here, now) that often means that the child will not survive either. So I don't understand the need to destroy two lives in this instance.
As some others have stated in previous posts, Cheney has a daughter who is a lesbian. For quite some time, he stood opposed to her right to choose her own lifestyle, and be with her partner. Now, he has come forward with the opposite view, saying that he feels everyone should be able to live the way they choose, without government interference.
Prior to this, there had been some chatter in the Republican party to replace Cheney as vice-president...and my impression is that it was for just such a reason as written above. Cheney had to decide to stand with his party, or stand behind his daughter. I must admit, I'm glad to see he chose his daughter over politics.
Democrats tend to be called the "liberal" party, because of it's inclination for big government, social programs to help the less fortunate, environmentalists, and pro choice
movement. It takes a lot of money to support social programs, hence the result tends to be big government. Many Democrats in the public eye are extremists, thus giving others the impression that all Democrats are radical in their beliefs. Coming from a Southern, farm-raised, Christian home consisting of all Democrats, I can assure you this is not the case.
So, I can understand any doubts, confusion, or astonishment you may have in regard to our political system, and the way party members talk to and about one another.
I might remind those of you who read this that, a Christian has a duty to be Christlike. And that means loving God first and foremost, and loving others as you love yourself. Now, I take that to mean that I should treat others well, but that I will in turn not allow myself to be trodden upon by others either. So...Republican, Democrat, Independent, or another party...oh, and yes, there are still other parties out there...please think carefully about your decisions. Who you choose will change the course of not only your life, but the lives of every American, and every human touched in any way by American politics. Choose well.
Yes, the terrorists hate Bush. Because he keeps going to war with countries that we have no business attacking. North Korea was...and still is...a greater threat to us than Iraq. And, perhaps you are not aware of this, but our country is the one who armed Saddam Hussein to begin with...we have Reagan to thank for that one.
Gee, I don't know what you consider a substantial tax reduction, because I sure didn't see one. I certainly don't consider one $600 check a significant tax reduction. My husband is a disabled veteran who can no longer get the free medical care he was promised when he signed his contract with the service, and our income is less than yours. We have huge medical expenses, but not enough to bring down our tax debt. But then, you get all those child tax credits, don't you? Oh, dear, just wait until those are gone. Then you'll be questioning where all your tax dollars are going!
As for your taxes going up with Kerry...sorry, dear, but you don't make enough money. Kerry plans to take back the tax cuts of the wealthiest one percent, and I just don't see how $45,000 annually qualifies for that. Arent' you aware that every member of Congress makes about four times that, and you and I pay for their top-notch health care program. You should be more concerned about what is happening with the tax dollars you are paying, and how George W. Bush has turned a record surplus into a record deficit in record time!
Now, as for gun control. Well, I refuse to live in a house without a loaded gun for my protection, and I enjoy target practice as well. Oh, and guess what? Kerry happens to be an avid hunter, so what gives you the idea that he would ban such weapons. The Bush administration has allowed the assault weapon ban to dissipate right under our noses. Now, as much as I like guns, nobody needs a magazine that holds more than a half dozen or so bullets. Bush is now allowing machine gun magazines to be sold, making a normal shotgun now a deadly assault weapon. There is quite a difference there...or can you not recognize that?!?
I am also pro-life, and I believe in God and the Bible. Therefore I believe in love and tolerance, not hatred and exclusivism.
And I believe it's time there were some more liberal judges appointed to the bench. That should balance out all the conservatives that the Bush's have managed to seat during their administrations. Fairness...not one-sidedness...is the key!
Oh, the "No Child Left Behind" was a great idea...to bad Bush decided against funding it!
And as to Bush's integrity, I have to strongly disagree with you. He knowingly lied about WMD's...after he had a received a report that the information was not reliable, he continued to spout his rhetoric in order to win support for the war. And he did win support from Congress...after he told them that the approval would be used only as a last resort. What a joke! Bush ran with it...and started a war with a country that was never an emminent threat to us. North Korea was...and still is...more of a threat. What is Bush doing about that? Well, he's just taking a "let's wait and see attitude", until the North Koreans have all their nuclear weapons at the ready. By then, it'll be too little, too late for you, me, your family, and the rest of America!!
I will gladly discuss the rest of the issues you bring up if you would like, but it appears to me that you have no tolerance for anyone who disagrees with you. Please, prove me wrong...write back and let's have a serious discussion on what's really going on in politics today. And I'd really like to discuss George W. Bush's total LACK of integrity...if you're really up to it!
Oh, what a joy to hear someone with some common sense and understanding in this world we are living in!! Keep it up...you have a gift.
I am by no means rich. But I am wealthy in understanding that Bush is leading us down a very slippery slope, and I don't think any of us is prepared for what's at the bottom!!
As for compassion, I have seen more compassion in Kerry's little finger than I have in George W. Bush's whole body and mind. Which bears the question...how much of it did he waste while snorting all that white stuff in the 80's?

And if your husband is a Republican and IS voting his conscious, then, like I said, that's what he should do.
As for the no officer being allowed to tell you...well, all I can say is what is supposed to be done and what is actually done isn't always the same thing. I think you and I ought to at least be able to agree on that.
As for the rich getting a greater cut...I disagree. I pay a higher tax bracket than many others, because I make more money than others. Therefore, I have a right to expect that the money taken from me be spent more appropriately by our government. I may not be wealthy, but I'm not poor either. Bush didn't do me any favors. He gave the $600 checks out to the lower incomed as "hush money". I didn't get it, but my grown children, who are juggling careers and families, did.
I have always done better under Democratic leadership, because I felt that the tax dollars I paid in were used more appropriately. And at least Clinton left our country in better shape than he found it...we won't be so lucky with Bush!
