Should Nader get out?

Since realistically Ralph Nader has no chance of winning, do you think he should get out of the presidential race?

To me he is a silly egotist that is proving nothing and doing nothing constructive to promote the causes he believes in.

I also believe he is a liar. He says there is no difference between Kerry and Bush, Republicans and Democrats. That is a blatant lie! Nader also said he will take votes mainly from the Republicans, that moderate or environmentally aware Republicans will back him. That is also a lie.

In my opinion, Nader should get out of the race. Sure he has the right to run for president, but he is serving no purpose other than distorting the potential outcome of the election.

That's YOUR opinion; not HERS. If she took the time to vote, then it was obviously an act that she considered to be of

Yes he wants to change some of the rules in how we run our elections, but obviously someone has to win more than others.

Nader does have well thought out policy positions, whether people agree with them or not, that he would like to have implemented, but my point was that there is not enough support for Nader to really get the two major political parties to consider his positions (like the two parties did when Perot got nearly 20% of the vote by talking about reducing the national debt). So Nader is only in the role of playing spoiler. In a close election the 2% or whatever small amount he gets, could mean the difference in a couple of states, not enough support to make an impact, just enough support to distort in a way, the election.

My other point was that only his weird ego keeps him going on this. He knows of course that he won't win a very high percentage of the vote, certainly not enough to really heavily influence American politics.

Also there are some people in both political parties discussing some of the points he is making, and there are potentially other third party candidatesin the future that will have more impact. Nader's day in the sun, in my opinion, has passed. He has done some interesting things in his life, he has had his influence on the country, but I believe he is accomplishing next to nothing now, other than distorting the election. A less eccentric and ego-centric man would have gracefully bowed out by now.

Nader has the right to run, but he is losing respect amongst the left, and the right never cared for him that much anyway, so really he is just making a fool of himself, a little like an old baseball player that was once an excellent ballplayer but is now not much good, just hanging on, sitting on the bench drawing a salary. Or a little like a woman who was once an attractive and popular fashion model who did some major shows, who now is too old to be a model but still insists on walking the catwalk at little, insignificant shows. Nader just doesn't know when to quit. Maybe if he had a wife or someone to tell him he is past his prime and has little real influence, but apparently he has no one like that, or if he does, he ignores their advice.

Whatever I guess.

Please put me on your ignore list as it seems whatever I say to ányone about anything, yóu are responding with such anger one would believe I molested your pet!

Ralph Nader is going to doom all of the 3rd parties he runs under, just as he did the Green Party.

How do you figure Nader will affect any other party in the future?

I don't follow your logic. I thought on previous posts you made (You're AWOL on some topics in the election 2004 subgroup btw) you were supportive of his run for the WH, no?

I predict Nader drops out. Him and Kucinich are 2 of a kind.

Nader wont drop out due to his enormous ego.

Nader hurt the Green party by not qualifying it for matching funds by not getting enough votes in 2000 and he may just do it again.

This way my point.

Yeah, I see your point in that regard.

I still support his running, I just can't seem him taking votes from Kerry like some of the WHINING Left leaning people claim.

He may cause some people who wouldn't have gotten up and voted to get up and vote, but no one who supported Gore in 2000 is going to look Nader's way.

Oh I fully agree that he has the right to run, but I think that he should get his message in order a little more clearly before he decides to run.

I personally think that Nader is a very intelligent person, and may have some good ideas, but the question is, will they work with the way the political arena is currently set up, and some might, while others might not.

Hey Djie,

I think that you have a very good grasp of American politics. Don't allow a disgruntled liberal to annoy you. Heh heh.

BTW, dh was able to get rid of the annoying spyware from our computer. So, I'M BACK, baby! :D
